OCD responds quite well to the medications used to control anxiety, providing that you also recieve counseling to try to help deal with the root causes. I would suggest at least trying the medications to see if they will offer you some relief, since something is better than nothing at all. I imagine you are not happy with the way you are feeling right now, or you wouldn't have sought medical advice in the first place. Since you sought help to get the answers and help to feel better, it only makes sense to at least try the advice you got. Things can't get worse, they can only get better, and there's no good reason not to try whatever could offer you some relief and help. Medicine is not a bad thing, it's just a tool for use when needed. You don't debate using a hammer instead of a rock to pound in nails, although they both will work. So why pass up another useful tool?

I say get the evaluation. You can always change your mind later about the medications, but if you do not get the evaluation and then decide you do need meds you may have to wait a very long time. It's best to know all of your options.

yes, medication can be a real help. i have seen small amounts do wonders for people. sometimes it can be taken as necessary and does not mean you have to be on medications the rest of your life. a psychologist can be helpfull also, but i suggest medication first, to alleviate your symptoms, then perhaps counseling to help you understand were this anxiety comes from. hope this helps your situation. i know things will get better for you. the prognosis for these disorders are usually good. good luck

Yes you should get medicated because OCD can get out of hand very quickly depending on your form of disorder. Good luck and God bless you. You should be very proud for getting the help you know you need. Hope this helps.
