oh my, good luck. Okay, first of all, do not get him something to do that requires a lot of time. Only unless you have a place to put it so he can go back to it later. Try having him make a card for his parents for Christmas. Do you have video games? Or does he have a gameboy he can bring? Even for kids with short attention spans, video games seem to be something they can concentrate on. Also, try baking some Christmas cookies with him. The benefit is he can eat them, and they don't take all that long to make. Keep some construction paper, glue and scissors around. Get a cheap coloring book or two (1 Christmas theme, another of something "boy") and some crayons. Keep some drawing paper around too. He may just want to draw with the crayons. Do you have any Christmas movies? Kids love em'! Look on the internet to see what shows and movies are coming on this weekend. Why don't you call him this week, on Wednesday or Thursday and ask if there is anything special he would like to do this weekend? He would love that you are including him and you would be sure of the kinds of things he likes. Good luck!

Well, one of the things that I always did was to remember to have a variety of different activities to do. Most kids even those with short attention spans can be mesmerizied by the right disney movie. However, you want to give him some other activities too. I'd plan several different activities depending on where you live and what the weather is doing and how much time you have.
Here's what I'd do:
1. Outdoor interactive activity - get his energy out
2. A walk to a restuarant he likes for dinner
3. Play a game that he enjoys
4. Watch a movie
By then it will be bedtime.
Even with a short attention span kids love routines and if you tell him what is going to happen ahead of time and what you're going to do and how much fun you're going to have - it usually helps.

Play games. Make up things like set up goal posts or baskets that you have to get the ball in for points. We set up army men and have a little tiny ball that we take turns knocking each others men over. We have used an egg carton and put point marks in it and then throw pennies in and count points. If you have internet access, check out some kid's game websites. If it is nice outside, go on a nature hike around his neighborhood and look for cool rocks. Bring construction paper and make rocket ships or download ideas for making paper airplanes and then have contests to see who can fly their plane the farthest. Check out a couple of good movies for when you need a break and if you have the resources (money), buy a gingerbread house kit and put that together. Good luck.

If board video games are what you want to do than i'd recommend that per chance you babysit a set of 8 12 months olds...Have your sister invite a pair of little associates over for a nap over and let them fend for themselves relaxing smart. it truly isn't any longer as a lot as you because the older sister to amuse an 8 12 months old...If she were 4-6 than sure you'd be required to attempt to fill a at the same time as with relaxing issues...yet at 8 she somewhat might want to comprehend what's relaxing for her...per chance ASKING her what's relaxing ought to/would assist you percentage at the same time with her.
