Hi, I iwll be getting married in March and although my step dad came into my life after adulthood, he is very special to me. I'd like suggestions to sincere songs, no rap please.

I agree that "I Hope You Dance" would be a GREAT song for your purposes. Another suggestion might be "He Didn't Have to Be" by Brad Paisley. It is a song specifically about a step-father and son. I know that it may not be exactly what you are looking for, but I think the sentiment is universal even if it is talking about a step-father/son relationship instead of a step-father/daughter relationship. I have copied some of the lyrics below for your information.

*****

When a single mom goes out on a date with somebody new
It always winds up feeling more like a job interview
My momma used to wonder if she'd ever meet someone
Who wouldn't find out about me and then turn around and run

I met the man I call my dad when I was five years old
He took my mom out to a movie and for once I got to go
A few months later I remember lying there in bed
I overheard him pop the question and prayed that she'd say yes

And then all of a sudden
Oh, it seemed so strange to me
How we went from something's missing To a family
Lookin' back all I can say
About all the things he did for me
Is I hope I'm at least half the dad
That he didn't have to be

There's a song..."I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack and it's a perfect song for that reason. It doesn't talk about being daddy's little girl or anything like that. I actually have a step father also and he's the only dad I will be dancing with on my wedding day so I'll be using this song. It's a perfect song and the lyrics go good with that occasion. Good Luck and Congratulations

i'd easily choose some thing it is relaxing, really of soppy--- noticeably if that sentiment isn't there. if you aren't to any extent further close, there is definitely no want to rigidity it for the sake of your wedding ceremony. counting on your musical selection, you could shoot for some thing whimsical and quick, or unpretentious and sluggish. All as a lot as you. Use a area like Amazon or iTunes to take heed to snippets of songs that you're pondering. some recommendations (i visit target to furnish a short, yet properly rounded list that could accommodate your musical style): i'm getting A Kick Out of You-- Frank Sinatra isn't She gorgeous-- Stevie ask your self Thank Heaven for Little ladies-- Maurice Chevaulier won't be able to you sense the affection this evening-- Elton John celebrate-- Kool and the team What a superb international-- Louis Armstrong thanks back-- Ricky Skaggs they could't Take That faraway from Me-- F. Sinatra and N. Cole

Butterfly Kisses
Bob Carlisle's Butterfly Kisses is one of the all-time favorites. The message is loved by dads and daughters alike and the tempo makes dancing easy.

Is there a special song you both like and have bonded over a bit. For my dad and me it was Stevie Nicks, "Landslide". I have chosen that b/c it is most fitting for us.

Get creative, you don't have to go all traditional unless that is what you prefer.

Guns and Roses, Sweet child of mine! lmao, Sorry couldn't help it. Now seriously, I would pick a Vince Gil song, I can't remember the name, but it is a good one. Good luck.

"Wind beneath my wings" (Bette Midler) perhaps, or "Because you loved me" (Celine Dion), but they're both a little strong. How about "What a wonderful world" (Louie Armstrong)?

I'm including a site with some ideas below.

"He didn't have to be" by Brad Paisley. It's a country ballad about a man who becomes a wonderful stepfather even though he didn't have to be. I think that's the exact title. If not, it's close.

Congratulations on your wedding!
