For music, you'd have to visit the band's website to see if they offer their songs for free. otherwise, you have to pay for it.
LIMEWIRE is legal to own as a software, but to use it to SHARE or DOWNLOAD any songs is illegal. The only thing limewire is good for, is to watch/listen to your existing library, but even that, tis a piss poor program.

its legal to download off kazaa and limewire but its illegal to share the files. So who you get it from is the one breaking the law. Try bittorrent.
