his 3.5 months old and has all his current shots (corona, parvo..etc)..so, I don't understand the reasons why he would have diahrrea for 2 days now. He does not vomit though, nor looses his appetite. The vet gave him some tablets yesterday so that the diahrrea would stop, and my pup received a second deworming yesterday as well. He went through the "ear crop" surgery yesterday though, so i'm not sure if it has something to do with it. Today I fed him cooked rice, eggs, and chicken; plus, royal canin dry food and Hills Science diet canned food as well. I would really appreciate it if you guys have any advice or recommendations on what to feed him, or do before I can take him to the vet again (in case the diahrrea doesn't stop with the medication).

causes of diarrhea are likely STRESS after the ear cropping, the de-worming and very very possibly the diet. CUT OUT THE HILLS CANNED food. Replace it with PUMPKIN PIE FILLING (plain, not spiced) it works as a natural binder for dogs with diarrhea. The chicken and rice was okay but the eggs were likely a bit much and the chicken and rice would have to have been boiled, plain.
Royal Canin is an excellent food by itself. The canned Science diet isn't.
The Pumpkin Pie Filling is what my Vet has recommended and I have used when my dogs had upset stomach for various reasons causing diarrhea. They don't eat Royal Canin, but that is a great brand. I would either feed the Chicken and Rice OR Royal Canin with about a third of a cup of pumpkin pie filling. You can give the Pumpkin Pie Filling every 4-6 hrs unless he has diarrhea bad and then you can give him more sooner.

Most likely he's having a reaction to the anesthesia used when his ears were cropped. He is very young and possibly given a little more than his size needed. Wouldn't hurt to call the vet to report his behavior since cropping, but the medication for the de-worming may also cause this reaction. Give the medication for diarrhea another day or two.
Chances are he's just out of his normal physiological balance and adjusting to the changes he has been through.

Feed the puppy rice with some wet food mixed in it. Rice is a good bulking agent and is good for them to eat. Make sure he has lots of water so he doesn't dehydrate.
I also found that when my dog was a puppy, the food made with chicken as the first ingredient, was too rich for her. She puked and had diarrhea until I changed it.

Good luck =0)

I would mainly blame it on the stress of the surgery. Also, I would just give him the cooked rice and chicken for a few days. All of the different foods may be boggling his system. Good Luck!

I have always been told Eukanuba dog food is the best you can get. But time is the only thing that will really help your dog. I know you probably feel bad, but trust me the dog won't starve if it doesn't eat for a day, and after a day or two it should feel better. Good luck.

i think you should stop cooking the pups food. its better off eating dry or wet foods rather than home-cooked food. some stuff in the foods make dogs really ill. its good you took it to the vet though

Your puppy has been through a lot..diarreha is pretty common after surgery. Also he really needs a food change. The dog foods you are feeding are loaded with fillers & by products.
