All I know is that they were part of that group, no info on the practices and how they functioned.
Why are people so secretive about this?

Knowledge is power! With Occult religions they hide information from people mostly because they are not at the awareness level to understand. However if you look at the Catholic Churches history they have hidden knowledge for centuries because they will loose power and the hold on its followers if the infomation is released. Also with some religions there is also a level of atainment required. I guess the higher you go up the more knowledge you gain. Kind of like a reward system for your efforts.

Mine are still very involved. The rituals are pretty easy to find if you look around. My father was shocked when we got into a temple and I could tell hime the basics.

Freemasonry is "THE RELIGION" according to Pikes book "Morals and Dogmas".
Non members are considered, and called PROFANE and not worthy to know the secrets. ALL of the so called secrets are available via any good Christian Book store. Mormons share almost all of the hand shakes and rituals. Mormons call the rituals by other names though.
