Canada has double the percentage of immigrants as the USA. Canada is more liberal towards refugee claimants, too, and most Canadian immigration officers at its borders ask far fewer questions of arrivals. It's southern border is far less patrolled and fenced than the USA's with Mexico. So why is it that Canada does not suffer the same or greater degree of problem of having massive numbers of illegal immigrants as does the USA?

1. they have families, friends and people in USA that can take care of them, help them to find a job, place to live and the illegals may also feel more comfortable speaking in their own language as there are a lot of Hispanic americans in the country rather than in Canada.
2. Canada is too far for them to travel, around 600 miles from the borders in USA. If they can pass the US borders why to go all the way to Canada? There is no need
3. USA shares their borders with Mexico but Canada doesnt so it is easier for them to sneak in US land to settle

1. Canada's cold.
2. Canada does have illegal alien's, just not as many and they typically arrive via boat or plane - not by land.
3. Canada has less stringent laws, they let a lot more in. That's why the Islamic extremeists see the 'battle' for Canada as almost won.
4. Canada's cold.
5. Primarily, illegal entrant aliens are from Central and South America. From Central America to Canada generally involves getting across the U.S. If you can't get into the U.S. you can't get to Canada. If you can, why would you want to go to Canada?
6. Canada's cold. Oh, and liberal too - it'd be like living in California, but cold.

The only two land borders that Canada have connect to the U.S. Most of the immigration issues are those of the Mexico/U.S. border, once the immigrants cross that border most of them settle in southern and western U.S. states due to cultural, language and logistical issues. Canada is also quite far from Mexico and of a colder northern climate so is less likely to appeal to southern born individuals.

Canada does have a topic with illegals. uk has a higher concern than america with illegals. Canada does no longer have as large of a topic one because they do no longer border with Mexico and a couple of they have a more desirable ideal border patrol and customs than america. yet another ingredient is that illegals have a very demanding time getting jobs in Canada, america is only too tied up by using both political events utilizing illegals as pawns for his or her very own income and income and under no circumstances doing what the yankee human beings want to remedy the concern.

Major reason is that the USA share its border with Mexico where, not only Mexicans, but Central Americans (poor countries) seek a better life. That's a lot of people. Canada's neighbour (USA) is a rich country and its people just don't know what they're missing here to the north. Medical/Health insurance for all, Education for all (except University), social equality, low crime rate.yes....big cities too.
Unlike most of you (Michael) we're not in permafrost, just the prairies. Hummm pretty cold in Chicago, St-Paul, Fargo, New-York....65F here.

Many immigrants pay big bucks to come and live in Canada. Immigrants here help keep the economy rolling by taking the menial jobs the rest of us don't want. Tim Horton's(your Dunkin Donuts), cab drivers and etc. People of all nationalities can come here and still maintain some dignity and ties to back home, we do not expect them to give up everything. Compared to the American melting pot, Canada is more a tossed salad...many flavours blended together in harmony.

Well since Mexico is the main place where aliens come from, they would rather settle in America then travel another 500 miles to Canada, and it is harder to get to canada the here
