You know what's acceptable, and what will make you work extra hard when that person comes in again.

Is that different for a table of white men in suits from a table of, well let's just say, the opposite.

To sum up my question, how do you figure out EXPECTATIONS, ACCEPTABILITY, and FUTURE SERVICE with regard to ethnic differences?

I give everyone the benefit of the doubt and the same service...but it tends to fluxuate between ethnic groups...It just does..
BUT, I will say, where I am from..The WORST tippers are teachers, as a rule. The BEST.. other waiters. I won't get into color, I don't want any trouble. But there are cultural tipping differences.

A server's minimum hourly salary is heavily below different workers by using fact the expectancy is that servers get rewarded from their tips. So a Walmart worker makes extra in line with hour in earnings than a server. additionally many people are unaware that eating places are additionally required to estimate a server's tips alongside with their paid earnings from the eating place and incorporate this volume interior the W-2 varieties sent to the IRS and the server. So in the event that they actually don't get a tip, they could finally end up paying taxes on money they did no longer even earn.

Having been on both ends of being a SERVER and being a CUSTOMER... I have seen our performance as a server to be a determining factor straight across the ethnic / cultural board.

I will tell you this... I overheard a group of waitresses talking about how ROTTEN a tipper WOMEN are... I made sure I proved them right before I left. Not being a vintictive person, I however, created the opportunity of letting them know they may not want to be within earshot of customers when they want to criticize us.

I find that once a party of people of a different ethnic sub-group figures out that you are treating them as well as you would any customer (and they can tell) they treat you as well as any other customer. Exceptions: Most Canadians and Airline personnel, they just don't tip well generally.

Def NOT! Now if you wanted to say well dress suits as opposed to 4 teenagers in jeans and Tees. Then thats an understandable asumption. But black white? Please! Today most of the people who asked whetehr or NOT to TIP at all, were "white". However, I dont believe its a proper asumption to assume "white" prefer NOT to tip well.
