This is for a school project, and I really need ideas.

Yes, this is his room we're talking about.

If you're talking about a bedroom, I would go for either space, jungle or a marine theme

However, at 9 he's likely to have a very strong opinion of his own of what he likes, so best leave it to the boy. $1000 is a pretty decent budget if you get creative - you should be able to cover any theme he chooses with that

How about setting up a college plan with that $1000???? That will go a lot further in the long run. Surely, you're not talking about a party and spending $1000 on that. That's crazy! A bedroom theme....he'll outgrow in a couple years. Put that money to better use!

I'd suggest
- the amazon rainforest (great colors and details to add, like all kinds of animals)
- the Old West (gold mining, cowboys, fort building, etc.)
- maybe Ikea-style room with functional places to sit & lounge & listen to music, etc. with friends, as he'll be hitting puberty relatively soon and he may not want a "kid's" room in the near future.

I can't answer your questions until you tell us a good theme for what?????

A good theme for a project? WHAT???????????

geezo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

****Well, now that you have clarified that this is for his room, what does a school project have to do with his room? Which is it -- a school project or decorating his room? Or,,, how are they connected?

Good grief!

theme?

If you are talking about his room, or a birthday party, I could think of a lot more worthy things to spend 1000 dollars on! holy cow already!

geez you should take the money and invest it in an education savings plan for him.

try different collors in a pattern. now that he is gettin older he will not like theams so much. and you want it to grow wit him so that when he is a teen he dosnt have a teame for a bedroom. try like dark blues or reds. or if you really want a theame try a sports bedroom. baseball, football, hockey.
