The real reason is because whenever you buy something with a credit card the credit card company charges the vendor 2-5%. With lottery tickets this can decimate the tiny profit margin on selling the tickets, which is why most companies don't want you doing it.

However, if you pick a gas station with some under paid careless cashier they will often not even notice if you buy some gas, some screen wash, and some lottery tickets. I know a gas station near me that never notices if I buy a few lottery ticket with my gas. I pay with a credit card every time.

You can't you use credit cards to buy a Lottery Ticket because while the first is a way for some companies to cash in on the gullible, the second way is an even bigger way for someone to cash in on the simple and so allowing the two ways to work together would be too much for America, not only the world is watching, but the economy might IMPLODE on itself.

I have done it and won as I'm paying for my gas. I would never just buy a ticket with my credit card though

The Lottery folks would not like to see this headline: "Man Maxs Credit Card to Win Lottery and Goes Broke Trying."

cause then technically the credid card company would be paying for the lottery ticket and if its a winning ticket, they technically win the money which would really suck for you!
