Okay, I have been playing the clarinet for 5 years, and just recently, when i play, my throat wont let the air throuh and it hurts to play, i can't blow up balloons either. I just can't play and during concerts it's even harder because i have to "fake" play...does anyone know what this could be?

It almost sounds like asthma. I would get to a doctor and find out what is wrong. Don't rely on the advice of a bunch of random people on the internet for a possible medical problem.

i just cant imagine myself even playing the clarinet. i dont have the breath for it. i used to fake play the violin all the time, especially when my fingers are frozen and i couldnt even tune mt instrument, much less play at all. it could be any type of disease, the cold, the flu? go make an appointment with your doctor to find out what your condition may be.

I'm not much of a doctor, but it sounds like something lung related. I agree with the lady above me.
