Well there are many things to consider. Ali was very popular and charismatic to go along with his amazing talent. There are different weight classes for one thing and many great fighters in each to consider. Many would say Sugar Ray Robinson was the best as he was welter champ for 6 years and middle champ multiple times Wille Pep won 230 fights and 173 out of his first 174. Henry Armstrong held multiple titles in different weight classes in the same year which will never be matched. Archie Moore knocked out more fighters than anyone and held the lgt heavy title the longest time. Joe Louis was heavy champ for almost 12 years and Rocky Marciano was undefeated as heavy champ with 49 wins and 43 kayos. There are many more that I could name besides these greats so it really is a matter of opinion. My personal pick is Sugar Ray Robinson.

Sugar Ray Robinson was the best boxer of all time. His record far surpasses Ali's.

Ali was the best that I've ever seen. It's hard to compare him to boxers before his time and boxers in different weight classes. I used to love Tyson, but we all know what happened to him:(

sugar ray robinson fo sho. hes the reason why they created the term pound for pound. hes the best boxer of all time. i think ali is probably the best HEAVYWEIGHT boxer of all time. with joe louis behind him.

ALI IS GREAT BUT NOT THE BEST. Mike tyson is da best. sure he did bad things but those things didn't make him suck in boxing. he won the title at age 21. He beat trevor berbick for the tile at age 21, he did it by punching him in the 2nd round and make him get up and fall dwon and get up and fall down. One punch made that guy fall three times and get up. cmon that is power.Ali was old and big but not fast and sneaky like iron man. SO I HAVE TO SAY GEORGE W BUSH OR MIKE TYSON
