It's a fair question.
My faith has been given to me by God.
Apart from His grace to me I might know about Him but wouldn't know Him.
I guess you call it revelation if that is not putting too strong a word on it. He revealed Himself because I sought Him. I sought Him because of circumstances in my life that arrested me. I see now that was Him, interrupting my life and getting my attention.
I knew about Jesus Christ before but now, if I may say so, I know Him. I think it fair to say I know Him better than my mother or father. I hope this doesn't sound too grand and as if I am something special because I am not. I mean it humbly. But I do want to know Him more and more. To learn how to walk by faith and see God working in my life.
My life has changed and in a sense He has given me a new life. He has made me alive spiritually so that now I am aware of Him and this knowledge is more precious than anything.
I am making no great claims for I know I am not the only one by far and I do not count myself as very far advanced but it is real just the same.
It says in the Bible that if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, which is a very small seed, it would be sufficient to move a mountain or a tree, so it is perhaps not important how big your faith is as long as it is real.
I don't know if it is a right description to call this religion because that word can have bad meanings so I prefer to call it faith for that is truly what it is.
To me, faith is hearing a word from God. I suppose it is having ears to hear, or having your ears opened.
Perhaps you may be able to see why I say it is given to me from God and why I say it is revelation. I hope so.
I also hope you will consider and seek for yourself, no matter that you say you have no idea or can't see it. At least you are being honest. If we are all honest I would say, apart from God, none of us can. And we don't quite know how to, but mercifully God will come to us as we seek.
I can't tell you how wonderful this faith is, or perhaps I should rather say how wonderful God is, the faith is the means by which I know Him. I really do urge you to seek for yourself. You surely won't regret it.

i tell you what i am a spiritual person and there are times when i question the whole religious aspect. I think people are born into faiths and then as they mature become interested in the spiritual side of life.
People tend to believe in god and have a faith because its a form of hope during the hard times in life, so when people hit rock bottom the belief that there is a higher power that can erase all the bad things and make miracles happen. Although you may view this as odd as a non believer sometimes believing there is this higher power [eg: god] gives people strength.
By the way, becoming interested is good. Better than closing your mind to something because it has not been a strong impact in your life.

Faith comes from the heart and from the mind.
Have you ever asked yourself why you are able to think with your gray matter? And direct your bodily functions with it.
Look, you can't even control your own heartbeat at your own will. You cannot exceed your physical limitations, such as defying the law of gravity, by levitating for at least 15 seconds, nor can you jump 20feet high from where you are standing.
You think God is so stupid that he gave you life for no purpose at all. You were born for a reason.
There is no god if you do not have a navel or a mother.
If you just popped out of a test tube or from the ground at your own will power, then there is no God.
Cars were invented and manufactured for a specific reason, what more of you?Excuse me but you are just another passenger on planet Earth.
You are ruled by the law of gravity and the law of time.
So you better get out of your arrogance while you still have time.

Not books for sure, although the truth is in there you just need to sort out the man made lies. My faith comes from the heart, and my faith in God never comes second. I am a spiritualist, we don't follow the way of forcing others to follow us, we don't preach to people, what do is give our love to others, there is so much more to say, all religion is man made, that's fact, God's words were suppose to be written without change, but man knew that there would be little profit in that, and to use it to control the people would be better, just like man today, take a newspaper and read a story, then pick up another one, read the same story, and see the difference, man hasn't changed over the years.

I like your honest approach, so I will seek to give you an honest answer. First, faith is nothing that is "ginned up". It has mostly to do with accepting the gift of salvation.
Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
Think about all men sitting in prison. When Christ died on the cross, all the prison doors became unlocked. When told they are unlocked some refuse to believe. Faith makes you get up and test the door. Faith causes you to venture out of prison to freedom. Each step of faith become easier and easier as reality sets in. It is hard to explain, but that is pretty close.
As for me, my faith came out of desperation. I knew there had to be a God, and religion just was not delivering. Someone told me I could know Him personally without religion, so I pushed on the door. Lo and behold, it was unlocked! As I ventured forth, I started to want proof, and proof was given. The God of the Bible was real and He was proving it. But it began with me getting off of my prideful butt of self-congratulatory ignorance and actually trying the door.
I tried to consolidate my findings in the studies below. There is far better evidence out there, so this is just a start.

1) Indoctrination by your parents or church at a young age while your knowledge is very limited and your ability to reason has not
matured and your mind is most open to manipulation. 2) Some people, mentally, just can't handle their own mortality and will grasp at the straw of faith 3) Others use it as a coping mechanism to give them hope in a world otherwise not worth living in, for example after a devastating loss or being diagnosed with a terminal illness.

I`ve always had the ability to feel and talk to people that have passed over (like John Edward) and I`ve just known all my life, I don`t follow any religion any more because the bible was written about 500 years after the fact so, its a bit like Chinese whispers and man made rules. I think the one thing that all religion does have in common is love one another.
All your good side is a part of God or Higher spirit, trust yourself to find the answer.

According to our belief system, our faith source is God. Scripture tells us that faith is a gift of God but is availed to everyone. I came into the faith unexpectedly and under odd circumstances. I really can't fully comprehend (and probably need will) but something wonderful happened in me during negative circumstances that changed my former perspective on life and God.

If I could sit down and talk to you-I could change your mind. But I type to slow to get into a debate using a keyboard.
I can help you start with a few questions.
Where did we come from? We "are" here you know? How did this whole thing get started? Where did all the stuff come from that started us up? Be sure to get proof for an answer before moving to the next question.

Hi, it's nice of you to ask so politely - many people are so insulting! I have an instinctive belief in 'something else', but because I live in a country where the biggest religion is Christianity, my spirituality is interpreted in 'Christian language', although I firmly believe that the 'something else' is far bigger than one religion os belief system. I believe it forms part of everyone and perhaps links them all? It is whatever has brought me back from the brink of suicide several times
