I know someone that needs to go to the dentist really bad and get a tooth cleaning. I want to find out a way to let him know without hurting his feelings.

MummyTummy is absolutely correct. You say something nasty, you may get a nasty answer in return. A look in the mirror is suffecient. Many people cannot afford the prices dentists charges and have no dental health coverage add fear to it.
Maybe you can help with the dental payment as a gift thing.
Look into their hearts and eyes, not the mouth.

If I were in your position I would go to your dentists office and ask for some brochures on dental hygiene, and the consequences of poor hygiene, as consolation offer to go with your friend to keep them company , or do it as gift. Reinforce the fact that it is because you care about this person's health that you felt it important to bring this up. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a friend in this manner, it shows you care about the health and well being of your friend, and what better way to show you really care.

There's always a right and a wrong way to say this. I would mention that I myself need to go and why don't they make an appointment with me. This could be a way. Good Luck. And remember treat others as you would like to be treated. Kina

Give them a tube of toothpaste and a toothbrush anonymously along with a note to go brush that oozing scum off your yucky teeth.

my teeth are not perfect and i would and have been horrified in the past when people have pointed that out so i think you should just ignore the urge to voice your opinion he must look in the mirror so propably knows let him deal with it in his own way xx

just tell them they may need to see a dentist soon becuase you can smell their teeth rotting. Whisper it in their ear.
