One really good holiday punch (I made it last xmas and everyone LOVED it) is 2 bottles of cranberry juice,a 2 litre of ginger ale, a cup of sugar, and a bottle of captain morgan's original spiced rum. It's very holiday tasting and looking and it costs only about $15.00-$20.00 to make if you buy all the stuff at Wal Mart. Just mix it all together in a punch bowl. (They sell holiday ones at wal mart for around a dollar or two) Just don't add the ginger ale until close to the party so it doesn't go flat. You can double the recipe if you need more but it makes about 30-50 servings depending on the size of cups you use. For added look and flavor you can add an ice ring (frozen in a round bundt cake pan) out of lemon and lime slices and cranberries, or just put the lemon/lime slices around the edges of the punch bowl. The punch is pretty strong, (not tasting) and you can always add more alcohol or reduce the amount of cranberry juice to 1 bottle. This recipe is very unique, more so than say jungle juice which is at every college frat party. (and it's just as cheap to make too) Everyone will love it and want the recipe.

RE:
How to make an inexpensive alcoholic punch for the holidays?
I'm throwing a little Christmas Party for my friends and I. I want to make like a "death punch". I just don't want to have to buy out the entire liquor store to get the ideal punch. I want it not to taste strong but actually be strong.

You should make Jungle juice, get a gallon of Vodka, and the large packs of assorted fruit that they sell at the store, and some juice, Orange juice, sunny D, or the cheap gallons of juice, fruit punch or citrus flavor. The night before, put the vodka in the fruit and let it soak in, then in a large container, I used a large cooler, depending on the number of guests, mix it all together to taste, drink up and enjoy, you will get trashed by eating the fruit, but watch out too many of these and it will sneak up on you and you will be praying to the porcelain Gods.

If you ask others to bring some of the booze it becomes very cheap, and during the holidays no one minds doing that.
Just remember how strong these concoctions can be.
You just might find yourself face down, hanging on to the grass to keep from falling off the earth.

I would either buy Vodka or Malibu and then I would put in some frozen juice mix with either gingerale or 7up. There you go a punch that's cheep and tastes GREAT!
