A friend of mine is making Pollo en Pepitoria (a kind of traditional Spanish xmas chicken recipe) for dinner tonight and has asked that (as an Australian) I bring some Australian wine.

What is something (in the range of maybe £10 a bottle??) that would go well with this?

Greg Norman Estates Chardonnay Victoria 2004 will run you $14 US so that should fit right in your budget. This is a good winery so thiswine should be a good wine should be remarkable. score an 89 from wine spectator amgazine and Australian white are hard to come by a 90.

Not sure if it's australian but Kumala is yum, as is jacobs creek.
there is another one with fishes on the back of the bottle so when you look at it it looks like the fish are in the bottle.
all are white wines i don't drink red wine so can't help there.

While many people suggest a white wine to go with a poultry dish it really is a matter of taste. I am hot on a red wine called Shiraz and especially a brand called Woop Woop Shiraz from Australia. It is awesome with anything!

sure you are able to practice dinner hen with purple wine. even with the undeniable fact that, to more effective answer your question, it will be extra useful to attraction to close what precisely it replaced into you've been making. Like if I were making my hen with white wine and caper sauce, that's somewhat citrusy and basic, purple wine would completely no longer artwork. it will be an somewhat unusual coloration and purple wine and lemon, do exactly not go. even with the undeniable fact that, making hen caccitore, i ought to go both way because it truly is a hearty purple tomato depending recipe. you are able to also replace apple juice or hen brother for white wine. from time to time a recipe would flavor bizarre with purple wine.

I suggest you look for a Margaret River appellation sauvignon blanc/semillion blanc blend.

PS: You posted your Question at about 23:50 (assuming you are in the U.K. or Ireland). Isn't it a bit late for dinner tonight, and aren't
most or all of the off-licences closed?

Avoid Chardonnay. Australian Chardonnay is too strong, too oaky - nasty! Anything but that... a Pinot Grigio may be nice, but I can't recommend a Vineyard.
