I'm 37 and in my teens and 20's I always had a beautiful girlfriend..then I smashed my jaw up, got a long thug looking scar on my face,and my hair has gone a bit thin and grey. I've been sober 9 mths now and I havent got the confidence to approach the kind of girls I was used to.I'm not shallow because I've also been with girls that I didnt really find attractive but that didnt matter because they were beautiful within.Maybe I'm terrified of having a relationship sober!Any tips?

You know the saying "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" Personally I think Grey hair is so sexy on a man and some scares on a mans face can be really really hot too in my opinion. Imperfections makes us all unique and that's sexy. Beauty from within is MOST important for a good relationship and physical attraction helps a lot in the passionate sex department. Congratulations on being sober for 9 months. That's hot too because it shows that you put you mind to something that's difficult and you had the courage to overcome it. Please stay sober so that your relationships can work out. I would never be in a relationship with a person who couldn't stay sober because you wouldn't be real to me.

lots of people find scars attractive.
if your hair is very thin- why not shave it all off- very trendy right now.
as for confidence- just try chatting a few girls up.... start with a smile....
every girl loves a nice smile......
looks are important to a certain degree- just remember they fade over time.....plus how many times have you gone up to someone who is really nice only to be disappointed when they open their mouth- even WITH beer goggles?
of course being a complete minger isnt great either..... lol but im sure you just need that little boost of confidence....
its nearly the weekend.... could start on friday
or why not try something different like speed dating or the internet..... not so much pressure.

Well people can be shallow lets face facts but if someone likes you for who you are thats all that matters.It will be hard finding someone but remember for every danny theres a sandy!
Just be yourself dont hide away.You probably find it hard to approach girls because you make it harder than what it is ! Be yourself and get some confidence back Go out with a group of friends have a laugh and it will find you if you dont find it it will come when least expected

I'm not going to lie to you. The primary function of the sexual relationship is to have sex.Both sexes want to sleep with people they are sexually attracted to.Now looks are the first thing a potential partner will notice about you.If they do not feel immediate attraction sometimes this can be worked on,by you being really charming and fun to be with.
If it helps from this description you sound ok.
Stay off the booze it plays havoc with getting your groove on when you meet someone eligible.

to answer your posted qustion Yes they do! but what is classified as a good look! that is up to the person... as for your thugish scar... that is something that is well out of your control.. nothing you can do yes it sucks but i think your reading to much into it! you are shallow because your soo focused on looks if you where not shallow then you wouldnt be asking about looks period. i do not sence that you are really shallow but your acting it by this question so do not think i am picking on you or anything just telling you how i see things! moving on i think you have fears of holding a comminment..

I've never gone out with a good looking bloke in my life - far too up themselves generally.
No, I'm happy to long as someone is hygienic and doesn't look like John Prescott.
Brains and wit are the two things I look for. Everything else is seconday.

You don't have sober relationships? I don't get that part but personally, if I am not physically attracted to a guy, it could never work out. So find someone that is physically attracted to you and how you are and you should do fine!

It always surprises me to see fabulous looking girls dragging some neanderthal around. I can only assume that looks are really not everything, only the first glance anyway.
Provided that you are bold and forceful I believe that a good personality will be enough to ensure your future success even if (or especially if) you look like the creature from the black lagoon!.

Hey us ugly folk tend to hav cracking personalities!! You wont know til you approach a girl, if she smiles say hi, if she glares don't take offence just back off.
Try having female friends for a while to get used to chatting again. Good luck on staying sober!
