Are you using enough water to cook your pasta?? A gallon is an absolute bare minimum and 2 gallons per pound is much better. If you don't have a pot that's large enough you might consider cooking half the pasta then when the second half is doe toss the (now cool) first batch in with the second and drain. FWIW, many restaurants keep cooked batches of pasta and toss them in boiling water to reheat for service!

I always add salt to the water, I saw that Rachel Ray does it too. It's supposed to prevent it from sticking together while it's cooking. One thing to be sure of is to have the water boiling before adding your pasta. But I know like the other person mentioned if you leave it a bit too long before serving, it does get sticky.

Adding oil to the cooking water doesn't do anything - the oil just floats to the surface of the water. If you're leaving the noodles in the colander a little too long, just give them a quick rinse while shaking the colander up and down - the noodles will loosen up.

Add a Little oil & salt to the water. And after it's done boiling( be sure to not over cook it) drain and rinse it with water. The starch on the spaghetti is what actually make it stick together. So if you have to rinse it off. You can add a little butter after that.

First of all, bring water, salt & a dash of olive oil to a boil, then add noodles. Drain well & serve immediately and also be sure to not over cook - pasta is best served "al dente" or firm to the taste......

Immediately after cooking you need to add a little olive oil or butter IF you don't add the sauce right away. If you did and it has a sticky 'taste', it is undercooked.

Is it home made? Then you might want to add more flour to the mix.
If it is from a box- maybe you didn't boil it long enough or you let it sit in the water too long after cooking.

Maybe you did not add enough water.
And I usually listen for bubbling if this happens you need to add more water, add a few drops of olive oil and a touch of salt.

It's the starch. When you drain it, leave a little bit of water in it, put it back in the pan and toss olive oil through it.

You are probably draining the water and then let it sit for a little bit, add butter!
