I mean no offense but if you don't believe there is a god, why are you always answering religious questions? A religious person often asks a spiritual question to other religious people and an atheist always has to put in his insults and negativity, then you all give yourselves thumbs up and the spiritual people, especially the Christians and the Muslims thumbs down. What is the fascination with religious questions if you don't believe there's a God?

I am not Atheist and not Christian. I have received MANY thumbs down by those who don't believe in reincarnation (Christians?) when I was simply answering a question about reincarnation. Why do those who don't believe in reincarnation answer questions regarding something they don't believe in, then go give themselves thumbs up and all those who believe in reincarnation a thumbs down.
I understand your point perfectly, but it is working both ways here on this forum.

You've been around long enough to have seen variations of this question posted dozens of times. The answer is still the same--we have opinions on religious and spiritual issues, too. Some of us were once people of faith, and many of us still consider ourselves spiritual. In any case, religious beliefs, whether they are real or fantasy, have an affect on the world around us, so they matter to us. Also, some of us are here not to mock but to learn how our neighbors of faith think. Like non-atheists, some questions provoke us to respond angrily. Some of us try to ignore those, but some do manage to get the best of us.

I even have been posting right here on R&S purely for greater or less 3 months. I even have published many, many solutions on religious questions and have under no circumstances gotten a violation be conscious. of direction, i opt for to respond to purely those religious questions the place i myself comprehend some smart advice (suitable to the question) consequently of my very own learn and reading of history, mythology, textual criticism, etc. i think it enables that i'm a attorney (with professional training contained in the strategies of oral and written argument), and that i've got progressed approaches of utilising a deferential, actual looking tone collectively as nevertheless criticizing (as nonsense) the content textile of the different guy's or gal's concept / argument as opposite to actuality or unsupported by using information.

You're talking about idiots who happen to be atheist and who are just trying to annoy people. Anyone can answer a religious/spiritual question no matter what their belief is and give a relevant and intelligent answer. Some Christians do the same thing to atheists who ask atheism related questions.

For me...I like answering questions about religion & spirituality because I've always been interested in them...Although I am not completely familiar with most religions, I love a lot of the concepts & philosophies, especially in Christianity, with which I am most familiar with (so far).
I think that strong atheists especially, atheists who *believe* there is no God, tend to be (though definitely not all of them are) kind of militant and bash religion all the time, cluttering Yahoo Answers with disrespectful answers. Or, they propose non-serious or angry questions just to start arguments.
This makes me sad because it seems like they are *everywhere*, and it gives people of faith & spiritual people such a negative impression of atheists. :( But I guess that some of these people may have had a painful experience with religion in the past.
On some message boards I have met a lot of atheists who are in religion/spirituality forums because they would like to learn about religion for its importance to the culture and history of humanity
Me, personally...I am not as much interested in this as I am in ideas about love & nature & God & spiritual experience & existence. I love reading everyone's responses and discussing...so much insight :) I think there are lots of other atheists who love religion, too...or at least I hope so! :)
I hope this helps!
Edit: I also think that with some atheists is that by not having belief in God they reject theists' belief in God as wrong or ridiculous...Some do, but many do not, and I myself don't either...;)

First, I normally don't put anything negative in a "religious" question unless it's negative itself.
Second, when I answer, it's to give my own opinion and answer.
Third, just because I don't believe in a god doesn't mean I don't want to understand why others think the way they do. Can I not learn more about religion so I can draw my own conclusions...or is free thinking not allowed in this section?!

We are entitled to. Anyone can answer. Beside Atheists often get asked about their views on religious matters.
Everything needs to be questioned or you don't learn anything.

What's the fascination with asking atheists this question if you DO believe there's a god.
Quite frankly, I'm most concerned with the way theocratic Christians try to impose their rules on non-believers such as efforts to restrict embryonic stem cell research, restrict rights of women to rule their own bodies, restrict the rights of same-gender couples to gain access to marital benefits, restrict the teaching of science, restrict the access to the Boy Scouts by atheists and gay people, impose religion onto non-religious in the pledge of allegiance and in religious use of public lands, etc., etc., etc.

Oh yeah, and the god pounders don't ever ever ever insult us, call us names, or condemn us to hell, right? Go tell it to the Marines. I don't thumbs down anyone based on their religion, although there are people here who do it to the atheists simply because they are atheists. I'm allowed to answer any question I like. So there.

Why do people as this question all the time, and not read the MANY answers supplied previously?
I'm not trying to hurt your feelings, but seriously, this gets asked WAY too often.

I'm not an atheist, but I get WAY tired of seeing this basic question asked over and over and over.
Just like I get tired of the endlessly stupid "Can God make a rock so heavy He can't lift it?" type questions.
