Refigerator magnets, used in the home to hold pictures of your cats.

Big electromagnets used in particle accelerators (SLAC, Fermilab, CERN) to steer charged particles. Smaller versions in CRTs, like the picture tube in cheaper TVs (not flat screens like plasma or LCD)

Magnet used at the recycling center to separate steel cans (called "tin cans" but they're just tin plated) from aluminum ones.

vast majority of loudspeakers, used in music, concerts, radios, have magnets for the voice coils (themselves electromagnets) to push on. (There are a very few "electrostatic" speakers that use electric charge instead of magnets.)

Lots of professional quality vacuum cleaners, used in hotels and commercial buildings have magnets mounted in front of the intake to collect metal debris (pins, paper clips) before it is sucked in where it might cut the collection bag.

Magnetic catches are often used to hold kitchen cabinet doors closed.

Auto mechanics use a magnet on the end of a stick to fish steel parts out of tight spots (like dropping a nut down the spark plug hole.)

Another car application: sometimes a magnet is put in the oil pan, so that any fine steel debris that may wear off of parts is captured and doesn't get wedged into other bearings, causing more damage.
