Just give it time. Of course he now has competition, so if you pay attention to the other cat he will act like it bothers him (and it probably does) but he will come around with time as soon as they work out a routine to share your time and affection.

No worries (though your relationship with the first cat has now changed forever...it will get better, but the dynamics change permanently in some ways when a new cat is added. It doesn't necessarily make it worse, just different.

Spend some 1 on 1 with Tigger if he'll let you. Make sure to talk to him and treat him special. My cat recently got mad at me for God knows what and kept his back to me for 2 weeks. Cats are just that way. I know it hurts but you will just have give him time and space to deal with things. He will eventually see that the new kitty is there to stay and he can either get over it or stay mad at you (giving up precious cuddle time he loves). I really hope it all works out soon. It's awful for your best bud to be mad at you. Good luck!

Its hard when you bring a new family member into your little family, trust me I have 3 cats! My cat did the sam thing when I brought Bear home (my female manx) because he was my little suck, it took him some time to get used to he would swat her like crazy as well cause he was so jealous, but he came around, buy him some treats and bribe him it works! Cause when I just brought home this abandoned kitten I found on the side of the road a few weeks ago, both cats were so pissed off at me, and they hate this kitten still to this day (only cause the kitten seems to be mentally retarded from what the vet says and they sense that) so I suggest bribe him with his favs he will come around!

My cat Kaffe became like that when we took in a stray kitten (Cato). He would acually growl at me when I attempted to pet him and cheer him out of the grumps. In the end, Kaffe adjusted to the presence of the "pesky kitten" and now, they are firm freinds. It took only about a week. I just made sure Kaffe knew he was still my Number One and that his food portions will never diminish and that his spot in my bed is HIS spot and that the premium perch by the window is still only his.

He has had his pad (territory) invaded by another cat. I have four cats currently... five at peak flock... everytime a newcomer arrives... there is tons of attitude... chances are they will pair up and be best buds!
