You'd be better off using yr own name if you want a continuous career, so that people know who you really are.
The more unusual the name the better.
You could use stage names if required by the type of establishment -- but unless you have already settled into a long term career contract , it's not a good idea to commit to an alternom.

As long as you like your real name, I would stick with it. That way people can look you up if they enjoy your performance. Definitely carry business cards everywhere you go, but beware that some establishments may not allow you to give them out. I lost a steady gig because of that, which I find really silly. Other places are completely cool with business cards, and are even willing to display them. The only time I would think a stage name would be good would be if you're performing in unsafe environments where sketchy people could be lurky. But hopefully you're not doing that. :) good luck!

It all depends on your real name, if its interesting and unusual use it. Stage names are always a catch 22. If you make it big one day you will always be known by your stage name. Itll be really hard to branch out and use your own name. Good luck.

I would ask myself do you want to be "stuck" with that stage name. I am not saying that is a bad thing. For example, Kid Rock's real name is Robert something. I am just saying decide if you want to hear that stage name for the rest of your career/life.

If i were you i would have a stage name.
Just because it is more fun for the people being entertained.
People will remember you that way.
You need to have a name that suits you, but also is grabs peoples attention so they will not for get it!!
I probably wouldn't use Rattyfragg though.

I vote for a stage name because you can give it a special signification. But choose well and keep it for a long time : a name ,specially in your job, had to be well-known.

I think stage name would be the best, but maybe you could explain what your actual name is. So people know who you are.
