A cyst is a closed sac having a distinct membrane and developing abnormally in a cavity or structure of the body. Cysts may occur as a result of a developmental error in the embryo during pregnancy or they may be caused by infections. However, sometimes they arise spontaneously with no apparent cause. Cysts are often dangerous as they may have negative effects (for instance, compression) on the nearby tissue. They may contain air, fluids, or semi-solid material. A collection of pus is called an abscess, not a cyst.
A cyst may also be a sack that encloses an organism during a dormant period, such as in the case of certain parasites. This type of cyst may, for instance, protect a parasite from the churning acid of the stomach so it may pass through to the intestines unharmed where it can then break out.
Cystic fibrosis is an example of a genetic disorder whereby cysts develop in lung tissue and release mucus into the lungs (see Alveoli) reducing lung capacity and causing persistent coughing.
Cysts can occur anywhere in the body; some of common ones are listed here:

Bronchial cyst
Dentigerous Cyst (associated with the crowns of non-erupted teeth)
Ganglion cyst (hand/foot joints and tendons)
Glial Cyst (in the brain)
Keratocyst (in the jaws, these can appear solitary or associated with the Gorlin-Goltz or Nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome. The latest World Health Organization classification considers Keratocysts as tumors rather than cysts)
Nabothian cyst (cervix)
Ovarian cyst (ovaries, functional and pathological)
Paratubal cyst (fallopian tube)
Pilonidal cyst (skin infection near tailbone)
Renal cyst (kidneys)
Radicular cyst (associated with the roots of non-vital teeth)
Sebaceous cyst (sac below skin)
Tarlov cyst (spine)
Vocal fold cyst
Each is diffent in to get rid of. Type one of the type of cysts in on the internet to find how to heal or get rid of it.
Good luck to you.Best wishes.

There are many kinds of cysts, but the most common ones are sebaceous cysts. A sebaceous cyst is a closed sac occurring just under the skin which contains a "pasty" or "cheesy" looking substance. A foul odor is also often present in the substance called keratin which fills sebaceous cysts. Keratin is a protein that creates the sac of cells called sebaceous cysts. The bumps or lumps you can feel under your skin are actually the sac of cells.

Often times, to get rid of a cyst your doctor will prescribe an antibiotic, which will cause the cyst to rupture and the fluid to drain. Or, they can be surgically removed.

A cyst is when bacteria gets under the skin and the skin tries to detract from it, so it puffs up and creates pus as a 'bodily barrier' between its surface and the bacteria. there are many types of cysts one of them is called Benign. You get a vaccination that kills the bacteria in your system to get rid of it its the only way but u will be sick for a few days afterward because it also removes some of the good bacteria but it grows back. it looks like a skkin bubble red and greasy, my aunt had one on her scalp/

Cysts can arise through a variety of processes in the body, including:
"Wear and tear" or simple obstructions to the flow of fluid
Infections
Tumors
Chronic inflammatory conditions
Genetic (inherited) conditions
Defects in developing organs in the embryo
What are the signs and symptoms of a cyst and how are they diagnosed?
Sometimes you can feel a cyst yourself when you feel an abnormal "lump". For example, cysts of the skin or tissues beneath the skin are usually noticeable. Cysts in the mammary glands (breasts) also may be palpable (meaning that you can feel them when you examine the area with your fingers). Cysts of internal organs such as the kidneys or liver may not produce any symptoms or may not be detected by the affected individual. These cysts often are first discovered by imaging studies (x-ray, ultrasound, computerized tomography or CAT Scan, and magnetic resonance imaging or MRI). What are the signs and symptoms of a cyst and how are they diagnosed?

What are the types of cysts?
There are hundreds of types of cysts that can arise in the body. Some of the more well-known types of cysts are:
Cysts in the breast which are part of benign proliferative ("fibrocystic") disease (fibrocystic breast disease)
Ovarian cysts
Cysts within the thyroid gland
Baker cyst (popliteal) behind the knee
Ganglion cysts of the joints and tendons
Cysts of the glands within the eyelid, termed chalazions
Sebaceous cysts of the small glands in the skin.

What is the treatment for a cyst?

The treatment for a cyst depends upon the cause of the cyst along with its location. Cysts that are very large and result in symptoms due to their size may be surgically removed. Sometimes the fluid contained within a cyst can be drained, or aspirated, by inserting a needle or catheter into the cyst cavity, resulting in collapse of the cyst. Radiologic imaging may be used for guidance in draining (aspirating) cyst contents if the cyst is not easily accessible.

If there is any suspicion that a cyst is cancerous, the cyst is generally removed by surgery, or a biopsy is taken of the cyst wall (capsule) to rule out malignancy. In certain cases, aspirated fluid from a cyst is examined under a microscope to determine if cancer cells are present in the cyst.

If a cyst arises as part of a chronic medical condition (for example, in polycystic ovary syndrome or fibrocystic breast disease), treatment is generally directed at the underlying medical condition.
