We recently got a puppy. She's a 7 week old cocker spaniel black lab X. She is chewing and biting a lot but i assume this is just a stage and she'll get over it soon.
If anyone knows any good puppy websites or has any helpful ideas they would be much appreciated

Thanks for the website and the answers. She chews books, newspaper (that was ment for her to be toilet training) furnititure and wires and cords (she chewed through our internet cord yesterday). She has her toys to chew on and my auntie gave her a bone with no meat on it and she likes that but i always watch her when she's chewing on it.
Is it ok for her to eat grass?

Mix vasline and cyenne pepper together for wood and other hard surfaces. It works very well. Then get a sock and play tug of war and any time you find something chewed up, show it to the pup and say "NO!" in a commanding voice, then play tug of war with the sock immediately. Your pup will begin to associate that behavior with the sock.

Whenever your pup goes to chew on something it is not supposed to, get it a chew toy it can have and praise it. A stern no will make it realize it has the wrong thing. Always keep your pup in an enclosed area like a crate or a blocked off room with only what it can chew while you are gone. Always pay attention when you are home. Give the dog alot of praise when it plays the right toyand interact with the pup with its toys.

Oh boy, you have a chewer!! Both of those breeds are notorious chewers. When you notice the puppy chewing move them from what they are chewing and give them a chew toy. As far as the biting goes, loosely roll a newspaper and either tap your own hand with it or the pups nose. When scolding a pet try not to use their name, its confusing to them. Use the same command for each scolding.
Good Luck

Well puppies usually chew because they need something to chew and their teeth are growing, but when the puppy get a bit older to understand its mistakes you should train it to chew ONLY on toys u buy it NOT your fingers lol.

Well it is tottally normal for them to bite and ect, but this will take a while to get over. about 6-12 months. but it depends on the dog. im not so sure of cocker spainels but most puppys are in that range. i know labs take that long though. Good luck

She's teething. Just get her some rawhides, Greenies are the best, or a chew hoof, but if you get a chew hoof be sure she eats it on the hard floor away from any furniture, preferably outside. Spray alchohol in places you dont want her chewing they will not go near it, and if she tries she will get a nasty taste in her mouth and will learn.

yeah she is teething and she needs things to help get her teeth in. there are some dog biscuits and some chews for small baby puppies in some pet stores.

patience and training, for you and the dog. think of her like a baby human, they will chew and put stuff in their mouth until they learn otherwise. Yelling and hitting will not work. making the things she chews on taste nasty or spicy, like tobasco will work.
