A crossover is any model where you would say "I don't know if it's a blah or a blah." Insert the words truck, car, minivan, stationwagon, pickup, SUV, etc in the place of blah.

Examples include:
Chrysler Pacifica, minivan / full size SUV
Ford Explorer SportTrac, SUV / pickup
Subaru Baja, car / mini SUV / pickup
Etc, etc

Insurance companies will always insure the vehicle using the more expensive side of things.

Basically, a cross between an SUV but with the tradition front end profile of a sedan. Just a fancy new term for what used to be called station wagons.
