gatewlkr- You might have a point with 1, but 2? Cmon.

O.K. we've established that Christ's birthday wasn't necessarily on Dec. 25. That is really a moot point since we would have the same issues no matter what time of the year we celebrated it.

reereecre...- You say that Christians need to put their beliefs at the wayside during Christmas to cater to everybody else but I never see any other people stumbling over themselves to remove the things from Halloween which offend Christians. In addition, we don't go and try to get every single demon ghost decoration removed from every single department store because it offends us. Think about it.

I think number 2 is worse. Retailers are just trying to supplement their income this time of year, which is understandable since that is what people in business are supposed to do anyway. People who are trying to take references to Christ out of the Christmas season may have a variety of motives, however. I think every religion should be able to celebrate whatever holiday they want to, as long as it doesn't interfere with someone's right to live. Trying to legislate and sterilize a holiday that is celebrated by the majority of Americans smacks not of materialism, but of militant atheism. Have a happy day, and I send you a red, white, and green gummy bear.

Who exactly are the people who are trying to remove Christ from Christmas? Why is it that you people can't figure out the we only want inclusion of all faiths during the holiday season? Has the American public forgotten that this country is a melting pot of many different cultures and faiths? My word, I'm sick to death of all this ranting and raving about crossing christ out of christmas by using Merry Xmas or Happy Holiday. Jesus sat and ate with the sinners and the publicans, just as he did with the disciples. He wanted everyone to be included in his teachings. You all preach your hearts out while conveniently forgetting what HE preached, and what HE did. I'm sure HE would have no problem with everyone being included in the christmas season.

1) does not make sense because it's not His birthday.

2) would be a good thing

Why is it impossible to let others celebrate a Holiday? Why does it need to fit the Christian needs? Christian means 'Christ like" so why not act that way? Jesus didn't demand that everything was His way.

Number 2, because without Christ at Christmas what would you have. Nothing, just presents, but for some thats not enough. Especially for me, I want His love everyday and especially on His birthday I wil show my love for Him. Then and on every other day as well.

1) jesus wasn't born anywhere near december.
2) do you want it to be a religious holiday or not? its the public references that make it MORE secular and LESS religious. look in the mirror.
