I hate to ask this, and I hate to sound like I'm a drama-queen and attention seeking or anything, I'm not.
I suffer from depression and anxiety (waiting for assessment for diagnosis of possible OCD, PTSD and social phobia) and right now I'm in a dangerous low.
Due to personal circumstances, I cannot phone anyone, or talk to anyone in real life. I don't want to talk to any strangers either.
What I would like, is someone to give me a few reasons why I shouldn't self harm. I very much don't want to self harm, and I'd just like a bit of help through this bad patch.
I'm going back to my GP in a week or so and will probably mention this.

I'm going back to my GP in a week or so and will probably mention this....... This is a direct quote from your question.
I am not going to waste time reciting reasons why you should not harm your self.
Admit yourself into a Mental Health Facility as soon as possible. They have the time and the energy to prevent you from self harm.
You story was convincing up to the point were you said:
I'm going back to my GP in a week or so and will probably mention this.
God Bless you.

Oh, sweetie I feel your pain. I have severe depression too.. bipolar depression actually, along with Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) ADD,and some other crap. Reasons why you shouldn't... well you are an amazing person inside for the fact that you've been through a lot it sounds. I'm 16 years old, and I've been through a lot too. Through all that darkness though, there is such a beautiful person. Don't harm that beautiful person. I have struggled with cutting also. As I type I'm looking at all of these scars.. it's not worth it. The more you self harm, the less control you have. I know you don't want to talk on the phone (I don't talk to online people on the phone) But please email me. I can really understand where you're coming from and I want to help you. Take care and email me soon. It's blueyedblondej5@yahoo.com

No matter how bad things are you are a special person. There is no need to hurt yourself just love yourself. I don't know your circumstances or your age but that doesn't matter. Have you thought of the people in your life that love you and care how you will be affecting them with your actions?
There is a therapy that I tried not so long ago and its worth a try for you too. Check out Ian White on AF-X emotional therapy. It is so different from anything else that I have tried and the best thing is its drug free and it worked for me and my partner and several others that I know have tried it. At the end of the day what do you have to lose???? Best of luck
Peace and happiness

Many people in depression don't see much of a future (in fact, that's practically it's definition) but there is always a future. We don't know all that will happen, and the joys of life are worth a great deal more than the pains along the way. Suicide takes both away, and is painful.
There are other people in your life. It may not seem like it, but your death or even attempted suicide will hurt them a great deal. Suicide is selfish.
Non-suicidal self-harm is pretty stupid, IMO. You intend to live through it. it's a rebellion against your current unhappyness, but pain only contributes to that. You're worsening the problem, not solving it.

I have caused self harm to myself...on numerous occasions. It feels good while you do it, but afterwards you feel even lower. You feel ashamed, embarassed, scared, and more depressed. I know how you feel, well I can empathize, I'm not you. I was just recently diagnosed withPanic Disorder, OCD, Depression, and now Bipolar. I also have a somewhat serious medical condition. They had me on the wrong meds and due to a reaction I'm having, I had to stop cold turkey today on my anti-depressant and my bipolar meds. That normally isn't recommended, but they were causing me harm. Trust me, I'm very low tonight, and have thought about cutting myself, but all I have to do is look down at my arm and realize it's not worth it. I cut myself so deep that I nearly lost all use of my hand (I was within 1/10th of an inch of cutting muscle). Trust me, it's not worth it. If you need to chat, send me a message.

hey I know how you feel... Life is rough. And you are in a tough position.you shouldn't hurt yourself because you will regret it (maybe even like an hour later). It will cause scars and then your little children (future kids possibly) will be asking their mommy what happened and what are you supposed to say to them?? It can mess you up in the long run you can get diseases and stuff like that. It will make you weaker in your eyes and others. People and yourself will see you as a fallen warrior, someone who became a statistic, who gave up. Do you want to be another one of the million people all over the word who hurt themselves and ultimately others.... do you really want to be a statistic??? Come on and keep fighting ok?? You can make it if you try

Last night I had to go to urgent care for a urinealisis. (I have a UTI). Unfortunately the "urgent" care is conected to ER and I was stuck there for four hours. While in the waiting room I saw someone that I thought I recognized. He didn't look so good. They called his name just before mine. When I got back to my room, we were next to eachother, seperated by paper thin partitions. I did know him, and we had gone to high school together. He was there because he wanted to commit suicide and his sister brought him in. I was so sad to hear that this funny, charming, very good looking guy would want to kill himself. I knew that he had prior problems with social anxiety and depression before, but he kept himself so distanced that people started to forget about him. (Its been like 7 years) I tore out a picture from a book that I had. (Starry night) and gave it to him. I told him to find out about the painter. Vincent Van Gough suffered from depression and killed himself. If he wouldn't have, he would have seen himself get famous. Now he is one of the most famous painters in the world. My long story was a way of telling you that even though you don't realize how special you are... people are thinking about you and care about you...even an old friend from 7 years ago. Don't hurt yourself...it will only hurt worse later when you start to feel guilty.

just don't. Everyone in the world is watching you and doesn't want you to do it. You don't want to either. You're just trying to deal with the bad things in your life. The physical hurt makes sense because you have emotional hurt, but you really don't want to hurt, physically or emotionally. So why would you give yourself more pain? Just don't do it for now. If you need to, tell yourself that you will do it later and hopefully by then you will have talked to someone about it and you won't want to do it anymore.

1. It leaves ugly scares on your arm
2. You might acidently cut to deep, or lose to much blood and die.
3. It hurts
4. People care about you, and are worried about you.
5. You don't have to live this way.
6. There are far more better ways than cutting to deal with stress.
Please, my friends cuts and I fear for her life evrey day. Sometimes I can't sleep I am so worried about her. First you need to get away from your abusive boyfriends. Then you need to talk to someone, force you self to, you need to talk! Start a diary!

you'll get scars.
seriously, as much as you think you don't care now, you WILL care later.
having to wear long sleeves for the rest of your life is no fun.
and neither is having a constant guilty reminder of your problems in the past.
