I read somewher that people with curly hair should ask for a "textured" hairstyle instead of a "layered" one at the salon so that curls look better and hair is no "triangular" but no one seems to know what I'm talking about, how to I explain the two techniquest to the hair dresser?

textured has more dimemsion and a random pattern which is good for curls because it allows them to look more in place and styled. layers follows a set pattern and is better for straight hair to give it style.

textured means it's on the outside of the hair, where as layers sort of blend into the hair. I know a great example but it's in an old mag; wish I could show you!

Go to someone who cuts hair with a razor. They will know how to do it. ...I just noticed that you have long hair. A textured cut might not work for you.

textured is really choppy layers to get "beach hair" or the "messy, bed head" look. layered is neater and yes, it follows a pattern
