I have heard that there is a religious fundamentalist movement that comes and goes about every 30-60 years. The last one, so some say, started in 1979 with Jerry Falwell and the Moral Majority.
If that is the case then it has now been about 30 years so perhaps things are just naturally going back to a centrist attitude.
Let's hope so.

The faithful is loosing rather the Eternal, Universal, and Apostolic Faith. This Divine Faith can not go "downhill" otherwise how can the Apostles admonish the faithful to hold fast to it when it is the first thing to crumble and get corrupted. "Watch ye, stand fast in the faith..." (1 Cor 16.13)
"But yet the Son of man, when he cometh, shall he find, think you, faith on earth?" (Lk 18.8)

Maybe it's not faith going downhill, but the fact that most people aren't doing exactly what Simon says...or the preacher.
Remember when Catholic priests had absolute power in the church? Lots of kids got hurt from that unconditional and unchecked worship of church leaders.

It is not being passed on in a culturally appropriate way to the next generation. We expect the faith we have to be passed on in the same way. It doesn't work that way, we need to change and allow our faith to grow with the change in culture and society.
Just because it worked yesterday does not mean it will today.

People are losing faith because Religion is idiotic. People are discovering that Science is better at explaining the universe. Atheism is growing. I am very happy.

It's going the way of free will, thankfully. Religion does more harm than good. If you think not let me remind you of a few examples. The Holy Wars, The Crusades, the lunatic President we have, the crazy Islamic fundamentalists and finally the catholic church for telling us Americans we have no right to keep illegal aliens out of our country. You keep your faith, I'll keep my spirituality.

Its all but gone in Europe. Mainly just a few older people now. People have become wiser and are not interested in religion anymore.
