Normally I wouldn't need to ask, but we've lived at our home for 8 months and haven't had time to meet them. I want to meet our neighbors before Christmas; so should I just go on over empty handed, or do I bring them something? Like a tray of goodies, etc, for being so delayed? Thanks.

I think it's a generous gesture on your part to reach out to your neighbors. THEY should have been the ones to approach you with introductions and a welcome gift when you first moved in.

I would definitely take some goodies but don't overdo it. Something small, like a little plate of cookies or a half-pound of home made peanut brittle is all you need, just so you don't go empty handed at the holidays.

It would be a nice gesture to go with a gift of goodies. It doesn't have to be because you delayed, but because you are nice person and want them to know you are inviting them into a friendship with you. They shouldn't mind that you have not had a chance to meet them until now. They are probably equally busy, or they would have tried to meet with you also. Tell them you are busy, but are glad to have them in your neighborhood and are just next door if they need you. It is not necessary to go with something, but they'll certainly remember you for it, and who knows what door it will open. Maybe your families will grow to be good friends.

I am kind of old fashioned, but I would bring them some goodies, since christmas is for giving anyways. I usuallly make some fudge, cookies, etc. and put them on a nice plate (you can get really cute christmas plates at the dollar store).

You should bring something homemade from the kitchen and introduce yourself, explaining that you've just been so busy with the house and getting the kids settled, blah, blah, but that you really wanted to say hello before the holidays passed you by.

Perhaps you can have a little holiday get together at your house for all the neighbors? That way you can meet them all at one time.

Now would be the best time to meet them... some christmas cookies delivered personally would be nice.

Just stop by. Tell them that you meant to stop by sooner, but things were getting settled, and then too much time passed and it started to feel akward, but better late than never. Chances are they were kinda uneasy about timing too. You all can laugh about it.

I hope your neighbors are nice.
