He creates man then kills him in a flood because man didn't listen.

He plays favorites.

He rewards his greatest prophet by not letting him into the promised land (all over a rock).

He displays jealousy in more then several occasions.

He loves us but will not intercede on our behalf.

He allows his greatest worshiper Job to be screwed with by his arch-nemesis.

he claims omnipotence but with the state of the world how can he also be seen as loving.

We are all god's children yet most of us are going to hell.

And the best you can come up with is "it is not for us to understand."

Listen even if I believed in a God I wouldn't follow yours not with that resume'. And the Jesus thing, what was that his way of saying I'm sorry for that whole 40 years in the desert?

Replace the father's name with your dad's name and see if you would feel the same way about the decisions he's made on our "behalf."

Why do you follow him again. oh yeah! The fear tactic of Hell.

Amazing. You have single-handedly undermined thousands of years of writings, doctrines and beliefs. You have shown us all what a sham our religions are by pulling phrases out of context from a text that is one of the oldest in recorded history.

Brilliant.

I find it hilarious that atheists, agnostics and self-proclaimed pagans comprise most of the population in the "Religion and Spirituality" section of this forum. Methinks thou doth protest too much....

I hope you all find what you are searching for.

I was born Christian and I would say I am somewhat Christian but I really have got what I have wanted out of it and moved on. The bible is just a reference book. I wouldn't take it literally. This is my problem with the christian religion. The pastors will never talk about all the bad things mentioned in the bible and believe me there are a lot of bad stuff in it. However, I believe christians obviously don't believe in that kind of god they believe in the good god that is always mentioned. Bottom line, believe in what you believe in as long as it is directed to the good will of all living things. If you need evidence of god then just go look in the mirror. You think all these thoughts and evolution just happened just because. Also remember that your living on a big ball floating in "space." If that isn't enough evidence for you then I don't know what is. There is so much more and it goes so much deeper then the plain eye/mind can understand. Look beyond the normal. Hope this helps. Cheers!

It would take to long to answer this point by point but would like to share this general observation. By nature's law, one needs to have faith in God or religion for the sense of humanity, security, safety, justice and discipline. Where is a society that doesn't need governing principles? For those who think faith in God or religion is unnecessary, I just want to ask them to remember how religions have contributed to human civilization and to imagine the darkness we would still be living otherwise or even chaos, violence and disorder that could occur if all humans were to lose faith in their respective religions today.

I believe that there is a God. It would be too fantastic to believe that this incredible universe (or the simplest living thing for that matter) just happened on its own. As for whether religions cause conflict? If as atheists say, religions are invented by people and cause wars, conflict etc., what makes us think that the any "non-God" belief systems we might invent are going to be any better? The track record is not too hopeful when we consider the death toll from Nazism and Communism and think of a world where there are no constraints on our desires and actions other than our own will or sense of ethics. Even if religion is a primitive invention, what system has proven better over time?

The why worship thing ... The most basic answer is that He is the great and powerful Creator and we, the insignificant and weak creation. I worship Him because without so doing we cannot rise to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ Jesus, the revelation of what God is really like.

Satan is the ruler of this world. God is the ruler of the Universe. Job loved him and did not complain, why are you complaining on his behalf? I have never had the luxury of being an atheist. I hated him more than you can imagine. I now have a real and personal relationship with Him. He intercedes for us ALL the time.
How do you know who is going to Hell? He is not willing that any should perish but come to a change of mind about Christ.
You take your own name out of the Book of Life by unbelief in him. He grieves over you. He loves you. He had YOU personally in mind when he went to the cross and bore YOUR sins in his body on the tree.
There is so much more to the Bible than what you have stated here. You are important to HIM.
HE is more real to me than the father whom I never had.
He is fair. He is consistent. He keeps His word.
He answers my prayers.
You cannot understand the things of God because you obviously do not believe in Jesus Christ.
The Christian way of life is a supernatural way of life and demands a supernatural means of execution.
Keep reading. You will find great news and love in the BIBLE.
Peace Out.

What you don't know about God is a lot. First I don't follow Him because of Hell. Hell is not for those who love Him.You don't have to go to Hell, just ask Him to keep you out with a heart that means that. The world is screwed up because of mankind. Mankind doesn't want God in their lives. Read this section of Yahoo. He has given us what we want a world where man is doing his thing. That day will end. You do not read the scripture with understanding. The OT is difficult to understand unless you know the culture of that day and what all the symbols mean.

There is no such thing as God. The notion of God, or gods, was completely invented by humans, and their fear of the unknown, to explain what they did not (or do not) understand about the nature of life and the universe. People having faith in themselves will have a better chance of happiness and success than those wasting their time worshiping a non-entity. There is no being in the heavens loving us, smiting us, or promising life everlasting (for those who behave). There is likewise no hell - unless you want to consider it to be this existence. Christians, as you have already pointed out, are hypocrites.

You are asking those who know God to judge him according to the beliefs of someone who does not? We know God because we seen the need for him and sought him. We did not judge him decide he was unworthy and not seek him. First for one moment assume there is a God(it is apparent you don't believe) Now would we who are created have things in us that were not created? In other words if it were possible for creation to be greater than creator where would the greatness come from? Would the Rightness of the the created being exceed the one who created the righteousness in him? If that is so where did our righteousness come from? Any idea of goodness that you think you have came from God he didn't miss some idea of righteousness that you somehow found. Any ability to reason that you think you might have came from God. Therefore we do not come to know God in our foolishness thinking we are somehow superior to him. Revelation does not come to people who feel they have no need of it. Why is it so surprising to these people that they have not received revelation? Faith is a gift from God it comes to those who value God and seek him. Through faith comes revelation. No man kicks in God's door and overpowers him.

The main reason I worship him is because he died for my sins on the cross so i can be whiter than snow. You don't read the bible do you? Because if you did you would know that God made the flood not only because they didn't listen but also because there was giants and immortal creatures on earth because Angels from heaven had lust for the women on earth and gave birth to non-humans. I doubt you want to be living with weird creatures.

I believe for my own reasons, just as you don't for your own reasons. I would explain all those instances you chose from the Bible and explain them, but it would take an extremely long time, especially because you probably don't want to hear it, which I understand completly. You must have very good reasons for not believing, seeing as you know several Bible stories. Good luck with your question

"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness;
but unto us that are saved it is the power of God."
