Im a server, and have been serving for a few years now. I have learned to accept that people are going to be rude sometimes. I just smile and apologize and act like a robot-emotionless. If i have a table that is running me to death, or just being rude to me, how can i tell them "hey im ******* human and you have no right to treat me like im your ******* slave b*tch!" in a nice way?

like i said before i have been doing this for years, im good at what i do, but i guess there are just some people who like to f*ck with people and be rude. If i do anything wrong, i will tell my table and apoligize, but most of the time it is the kitchens fault. people dont realize i dont cook their damn food, it's not my fault if it takes forever. I still apolize for it cuz i know thats what they want to hear. But for those people who are rude to your server, just remember WE HANDLE YOUR FOOD, WE CAN DO WHATEVER WE WANT TO IT! I have heard so many stories of crappy tables who one just couldnt make happy so they put a little suprise in thier food or drink and they never knew anything.

Sorry, but that's the "benefit" of dealing with the public. However if they are becoming violent and over-the-top obnoxious by disturbing other customers, then your boss needs to let them know that they will need to leave. Don't jeopardize your job by losing your cool over people you don't know nor like.

I work in customer service and encounter rude, bossy people on a daily basis. You have to take everything with a grain of salt.

You are there to serve the public that frequents the restaurant. There can be many reasons for them to ask you to come to the table. Whether they are warranted or not is not your decision and there are no rules as to the number of call-backs. You are there to serve the food and keep the customers happy.

We have often expected a lot from our server and we reward them accordingly, often quite generously. The server is the front line at the restaurant and can make or break the business for the owner.

There is no excuse for customers being rude to a server unless the server screwed up really bad or has a bad attitude. Unfortunately, it will happen. You owe it to your boss to keep your mouth shut and vent to him/her or other employees after the rude customers leave. Too often people forget the big rule of customer service... The customer is ALWAYS right. If you can't deal with that you shouldn't be in a front line position.

You really can't say or do anything because people like that will go directly to your manager if you start something or go slower or do anything they can to rat you out to your manger. Serve them as fast as you can. Be as polite as possible and try to get them out of your table as soon as possible. They will probably not give you a tip but your boss may see how you handle it and remark about it to you. Also you will know you did the right thing. Good luck!

Simply tell them that there's no need to be rude. That they don't need to speak to you in that way to get service.

Other then that, just smile, nod and my extremely sickly polite to them. Make them feel bad for acting the way they are. I don't work in the food industry, but I do work in a store and that's what I do when I get rude customers. I keep a smile on my face and act as though nothing they are saying fazes me. Once their gone and I'm alone, then I vent it all out. I've actually had other customers compliment me for the way I deal with difficult customers.

There should be x number of callbacks to a table. Three sounds like enough to me. The thing is that it works both ways. You go back to a table three times anything more you can just ignore until you can get to it. I'm sure your boss will back you up on this. Good luck baby.

Smile, apologise and be polite.
If you still feel that your customers are being unreasonable in their manner to you then pass the buck and ask the restaurant manager or supervisor to intervene or assist you.

I cant think of any way but you have freedom of speach but your boss wouldnt be very happy with it if you said some words that would hurt the customers.
