I was in military... And you may be disqualified for flat feet. I knew a few people who were. It depends on the severity of it for each individual. The best thing you can to is go to MEPS and try to enter. Let them tell you whether or not they will accept you, not someone else speaking from their own experience.
Thanks

Yes and no. This used to be true in the 70's, during the times of Vietnam. I don't know about the Army, but I joined the Marine Corps in 2001 with a case of mild flat feet. I asked about it at BAS and they will make special inserts for your boots to help alleviate the pain from constant pt. As long as I vary the surfaces I run on, I'm normally okay. I had a drill instructor with severe flat feet and she is now a Staff Sergeant in the Corps and she works out all the time. The military supposedly didn't let people with flat feet in because the constant running and pting wreaks havoc on that person's feet, ankles, shins, etc.

Yes, My son has flat feet. He went to boot camp and they sent him home. Told him he never should have been sent over. By the time he came back after six months his feet and ankles were all messed up from running.
