I'm a 22 year old female, and I've got 15 of them.

I think it's safe to say that I love them, and I have plans for many more.

And if someone doesn't like my tattoos, that's their problem.

Tattoos are expressions of people. It's not a whole lot different then decorating your house. You get what you like and what means something to you. Most tattoo can be changed or covered up although it not suggested to get something on the spur of the moment that you'll regret later. Everybody of course has their own opinion on tattoos and what is or isn't acceptable. I have 5 and have my own reasons behind them. They are personal for me and I don't give a hoot about what other people think of them or rather they except me with them. You will find the people that are closed minded and automatically make assumptions about people because they have tattoo's but having a tattoo does not demote or promote your life status. I have never regretted my tats and even when I am old and sagging, explaining to my grand-kids about them I'll not regret them. They are a part of me and tell their own story about the passing of my life from one stage to the next. It's a type of art you carry with you and can show off proudly or hide and keep for yourself.

I have known a lot of people who got tattoos because "everybody has one" and got repented very soon. And a college professor told me he could identify what year a tattoo was made, just looking at the design. LOL
My point is that some people like them as an expression of their individuality, but some people just get into them because they have become another fashion.
I knew a guy who used to do tattoos as a second job, and he recommended his first time clients to have the tattoo drawn in a place they couldn't see it, because he had some customers who disliked them so much and the suffered watching the tattoo everyday.

Tattoos that have a special history to the person they're on are great, but i have a special dislike to certain types of people who get a certain type of tattoo just because they're in fashion at that moment in time i.e. tribal tattoos. If you're not of that tribe or of that culture why on earth would you want a tattoo that means nothing to you apart from it being a fashion statement? I mean for all you know your chinese symbol tattoo could say "I'm a sissy boy who loves sucking d**k" when you thought it meant "freedom" or "happiness"...

If someones done their research though, and it shows something special to them, then kudos. I'm just ranty though!

here's a rant and a rave
rant: people who don't research their tattoos and their tattoo aritsts. people who just walk into a tattoo shop and pick the cutest or coolest thing they see hanging on the wall. it annoys me to no end. flash annoys me. i wish more people would check into custom tattoos. also i hate it when people automatically assume that everybody with tattoos is trashy, stupid, uneducated, unemployed or a drug user. if anybody looked at me, they would think i was a normal girl next door.

rave: i loooooove custom tattoos. i love my tattoo artist! http://www.myspace.com/jctattoos http://www.jamesclementstattoos.com he is great and i wish more people would go to him and artists like him. it amazes me that he can draw out a perfect tattoo from scratch in less than five minutes. i have never seen a tattoo of his that has disappointed me.
tattoos can be art, my tattoos are art and i am glad that i have them. there will be no regrets. i have spent my money well and will take good care of my skin and tattoos for years to come. and for all of those people who ask about when i have wrinkley skin, who cares? old people are going to be wrinkley and unattractive whether they have inked skin or not. i don't expect to be sexy when i'm 80 no matter what.

There is nothing wrong with Tattoos, many of them have meanings to them as they represent something to the person that has them. I have one too! There is a Marine's helmet (vintage Vietnam) sitting on an M14 rifle that is stuck in the ground on its bayonet next to an old pair of worn out jungle boots with dog tags haning from it, and next to it is the same thing except its a new Army helmet (vintage Iraqi war 2003-2006) sitting on an M-4 that is stuck in the ground on its bayonet, next to a pair of old worn out desert camo boots and dog tags. They represent the budies I lost in the Nam and the other the bussies my son lost in Iraq!

I have no problem if others get them, but I do question some peoples reasons for getting them. I know many who regret that they got them and now wish to remove them. I personally wouldn't get one. My reason is this: I view my body as a temple, and tattooing it would be tantamount to putting grafitti on that temple.

I don't like tattoos. I think they are tacky. My step-dad was a tattoo artist, and a lot of my family has tattoos, so this doesn't come from having a family that isn't open to them. I just don't see the appeal at all and almost everyone I know who has one regrets it at some point.

I like tattoos. They are a sexy piece of art that often have a story to tell (most of the time).
