According to the following eyewitness, the Pope kissed the Koran as a sign that he has also great respect for Islam and that he was aware of the suffering of the Iraqi people.

The Chaldean Patriarch of Iraq, Raphael I Bidawid is the spiritual guide of the majority of Iraq's one million Christians -- who still celebrate their liturgy in Aramaic, the language spoken by Jesus.

Raphael I Bidawid, Patriarch of the Chaldeans told in an interview:

“On May 14th I was received by the Pope, together with a delegation composed of the Shiite imam of Khadum mosque and the Sunni President of the council of administration of the Iraqi Islamic Bank. At the end of the audience the Pope bowed to the Muslim holy book the Koran presented to him by the delegation and he kissed it as a sign of respect. The photo of that gesture has been shown repeatedly on Iraqi television and it demonstrates that the Pope is not only aware of the suffering of the Iraqi people, he has also great respect for Islam.”

Christians can pray to God anywhere and are called to pray at all times.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states, "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."

"It is my ardent hope that Muslim and Christian religious leaders and teachers will present our two great religious communities as communities in respectful dialogue, never more as communities in conflict."
-- Pope John Paul II, Meeting with Muslim Leaders in Omayyad Great Mosque, Damascus, May 6, 2001.

What both men were doing was affriming that the Q'uran is a holy book in the case of John Paul II and acknolwledging that it contains the wisdom and word of God as does the Bible. By praying in the Mosque, the current pooe, Benedict XIV was affirming that Allah and God are the same being and that Muslums and Christians are worshiping the same deity, albeit in significantly different ways. Both men were attempting to bridge the gap between thier religious faiths and find a way of uniting them rather than having them at war with one another. Admittedly I am more surprised at the current Pope than in his predicessor, John Paul II was a wise man as popes go and part of his mission as pope was to bridge the gap between the different religions.

Jews, Christians, and Muslims all worship the God of Abraham. Christians, in accepting the recent testomony and Apostolic training, have come to have self belief that the God of Abraham is the Holy Trinity, one God in 3 persons, the daddy, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jews and Muslims even with the very undeniable truth that believing in the single authentic God do no longer settle for the doctrine of the Trinity. God is everywhere (except perchance in Hell) and Christians are call to wish in any respect circumstances. subsequently I see no concern with the Pope or the different Christian praying in a mosque, temple, or the different position in the commonplace universe. With love in Christ.

The Pope kissed the Q'uran as they all belong to the same Organization, They are all run by the same whose is mis-leading the enite inhabited earth.
This is not associated with the organization Jesus preached when he spoke of his father (pslams 83:18 in the old king James bible.).This scripture clearly tells us there is only one true God and he alone stands alone and is the most high. Not even Jesus recieves this glory, and Jesus preached about his father and the kingdom while on earth. So with that once you know the true gods name, you have found the only true faith.. and if Jesus taught us about his Father and we praise Jesus we are being lured by the same fella who runs every other religious denomination.. As long as we take the glory off of the true God and even if we place it on Jesus , that evil demon has you singing at another one of his cults..

The name of our heavenly father will give you a clue to the true religion where Jesus stated you can judge the true religion by the fruit the tree bears. So for example if the faith does not go to war and honors God command Do Not kill, you r getting closer..

I think ol' JPII, although the greatest pope in my lifetime, was getting older, and had no clue what he was kissing:

People shove all kinds of books into the pope's hands at audiences, and if the pope was under the impression that the thing to do with a gift in Iraqi culture is to kiss it as a sign of respect to the one who gives the gift then he might have kissed it reflexively, not even understanding the nature of the book.

Now, as for Benedict XVI - there is nothing to indicate "prayer" - his spokesman said "there is no doubt that the Holy Father's thoughts turned to God..." - but it's a far leap to say that he was "joining in prayer".

Get real.

I don't see where that equates losing faith. In fact, this shows even more strength for their own faith without the belief that doing so will cause God to be angry with them. Muslims in the US visit churches and temples all the time, and invite all to come to the mosque, but that doesn't mean we are weak in faith or going against religion. In fact, building bridges between communities is far more righteous than keeping secluded from others simply because they don't pray the same way you do.

Pope kissing the Quran of Islam although the Quran specifically denies the gospel message of salvation.

Jesus said: "Whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven." Matthew 10:33

Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Pope pushing the idea that Allah of Quran and God of the Bible are the same God.

The warning..."My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me. seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children." Hosea 4:6

Pope prayed in Mosque while in Turkey? THEY ARE THE WOLVES THAT JESUS WARNED US.

Allah is not the same God of the Bible and So why then the Pope kissed the Islamic Koran? The Pope can be simply brushed under the rug of BIGOTRY.

I'm no expert on Muslim theology but the Muslims don't believe Jesus was never crucified to begin with and should we expect any more from Hamas?

You can pray to God anywhere... and the God of the Christians is the same God worshipped by the Jews and Muslims.

If a Muslim wanted to come pray at my church as a sign of peace and understanding, I wouldn't object.

He was showing respect. I think it stupid. If i was Christian i would be offended. To the pope its about power if he can show the muslims that he can respect them. He thinks he will be able to gain followers among them. Confuse and conquer.

note the new pope never apologized for his comments he said he was sorry for the way they acted. They want to build a bridge to islam and then use it to take over.(thats there plan!!!!!)
