I have about 1,000 batteries and I am trying to find the safest way to dispose of them.

Do not throw them away. Batteries do very bad things to soil and water tables when they break down in landfills. Please contact your municipal waste company (the wonderful people who pick up your garbage) and ask for, and be very specific, a free "universal waste" drop off site. Certain kinds of batteries can be recycled, while others must be disposed of in very exacting ways. You can be fined in some states for throwing "universal wate" (batteries, fluorescent bulbs, computer screens and parts, other electronics) into general trash. If your waste hauler wants to charge you or if you cannot find access to one, check with your state or the federal EPA, for a site near you. Also, most communities have various times of the year when they pick up household hazardous waste. Good Luck.

surely it is safe.
because after receiving trash from all the people, they will bring it to a place where trash will be classified and also recycled. So it is ok if you put those batteries in trash

Maybe you should pack them together, it will be easier for classification process

No, it is not safe for the environment! Call your local county solid waste management department and they'll tell you what to do with them.

It's not safe. Call your local recycling center or take them by there.
