It almost starts, then just turns over. Battery is strong. I think it is either a plugged fuel filter or the fuel pump went bad. I think I remember my dad taking something off of it a long time ago and blowing on it. What was that?

first thing to do is to see if it is getting fuel. The easiest way I know is to open the air intake hose and spray starter fluid in it and then go try to start it. If it kicks off and runs for a second and then dies, it isnt getting fuel. If it doesnt try to run, then you may have a different problem. You need to use caution when taking out a fuel filter. On many cars you can't because it is in the tank. If you go to a web site for an auto parts store, you should be able to click on things until you find a picture of your fuel filter. if it looks as though an in hose and an out hose connect to it then it is likely under the car. To find it you would trace the hoses from the gas tank up the bottom of the car to the engine compartment. Somewhere in there you will come upon a filter. Fuel injected cars like yours have fuel lines that are under pressure... so be careful! you need two sets of vice grips to clamp off the hose on each side of the filter. Then you simply loosen the hose clamps and take it out. The smart thing to do is to have a person drive you down and get a new one ready to put in its place rather than just blowing it out. THat way you have ruled out the possibility of the problem being the filter. If it has clogged enough to choke out the fuel line it should be replaced rather than blown out anyway.

you replace it. they are only around 5-10 bucks depending on the store. Wal Mart has alot of different filters in stock I am sure they'll have yours too. If its dirty or original its a good idea to get an injector cleaner to run thru the system after you replaced the filter. DON'T FORGET TO RELIEVE THE GAS LINE PRESSURE BEFORE YOU TRY TO TAKE OFF THE LINES ON THE FILTER. otherwise you'll have a mess and a hazardous situation.

Its cheaper and easier to replace than clean and it probably the fuel pump anyways they are famous for it . By the way the pumps in the tank , you have to drop the fuel tank to replace it make sure you get the right pump for the right engine you have or the car will not run properly ,

try cleaning your fuel injectors with the canned cleaner, you plug it in and the car runs on it for a couple of minutes, that would tell you a lot :)
