I equate your question like this and for now we'll just leave God out of it.
When we were all kids we had certain rules to live by and if we broke any of those rules, well there was hell to pay. Isn't that right?
Now as adults we have to abide by the rules of society or we have to pay the price. Isn't that right? How many of us have gone before the judge and hoped he'd be merciful. Where I come from a town in Wisconsin, we had this judge and if he hung one out over the weekend he never came to court in a very good mood. Who knows you might get a week for a simple misdemeanor.
So we don't give into the dominance of society we are sure to be punished.

1) He does not CONSTANTLY want to be worshipped.
2) He doesn't coerce us into being good or threat us
3) He does not punish those who don't recognize his dominance because a) I'm sure they had a chance to receive His life somtime in they're life b)they refuse to believe Him c) they aren't fulfilling the purpose of life on earth. We, humans, are made as vessels to contain God('s life). If we don't, then it doesn't work. You can't stick a glove on your foot; it doesn't work that way. same thing.

Maybe you should seek the truth He has to offer for yourself it is obvious that someone has misinformed you on a lot of points. What besides worship and adoration do people have to offer to God? It is through our sacrifice of praise that we learn to make sacrifices for the people we love and not always put our wants and needs ahead of other peoples.
Hell is not a threat it is the outcome of turning from God. Spirituality is for those people who have lived in hell and don't want to return. Hell is life without God.

Hell is not a punishment. God didn't create it. It's an alternative. It's the same thing you tell people that live in your house. Either you live by my rules or you don't live here. Hell, is like living on the street of the spiritual world. God has to protect the people that are already there. So if you try to be an evil punk, then he's going to kick you out, so that the people are behaving themselves can exist in people.
God doesn't chose these things, you do.

first of all dont use such bash words people could get affected.
if u dont see the truth doesnt mean everyone doesnt. people worship god out of fear of his punishment but the true worship is the anticipation of his reward.
and god does not "coerce" you to worship him as a matter of fact in the quran it says man has the choice of being a believer or a non-believer (in god) and he shows the consequence of both (heaven and hell.) now who in their right mind chooses to go to hell?
actually i thank you for giving me an opportunity to show you that islam is the true religion. you dont worship god out of fear. u worship him out of love. remember that...

The bible portrays god at different points as possessing every imaginable negative human quality. Hard to imagine he 'inspired' people to portray him in that light. You ask a good question but don't expect any well thought out logical answers. The christians will just dance around it with the usual meaningless rhetoric.

Ok, Christian's point of view:
First off, he isn't really coercing anybody. We all at some point have heard about out Lord Christ. It's our problem for not converting. We heard the message, the Gospel, the Good News, yet we choose not to listen? Isn't that a bit stupid of us? (I'm saying "us" as in the people who aren't Christian, I am.) If you're a true Christian, you'd be good out of love for Him.

You need to think about that.
God doesn't "need" anything from us. WE need to be saved from our sin nature. And God has provided the means. But most ppl don't know that. Worship is merely paying attention. God wants us to pay attention to Him, so we will not be destroyed. God is not desperate. We are. Some of us are just too thick to see that.

See, it's all in the worshipper. Some worship in fear of punishment. Some worship in anticipation of reward. But the TRUE believer, the absolute sincerest form of worship is doing so out of love for the Creator and Sustainer.
