I used to have mild cases of it in the winter from my teens to my mid 20's. I'm 38 now and I haven't had a problem for several years until now. I have the hypersomnia, fatigue and depressed mood but my appetite is greatly reduced. I know this type of depression usually involves increased appetite and carb craving. Does anyone else experience SAD with the hypersomnia and other symptoms but have a lack of appetite?

I used to experience regular SAD symptoms when I was in my 20's and partly into my 30's. (I'm 54 now). I absolutely HATED overcast days. If I couldn't see blue sky and sunshine, I would feel pretty depressed.

For me, once I reached my late 30's, the feelings I had about overcast days just seemed to lessen. It may sound kind of corny, but if the sun wasn't out, I just thought of other things to brighten my day, mostly in the form of reminding myself of things I was thankful for. I guess I just learned to create my own inner sun.

A few years ago, I heard about SAD lights that you can install in your home that is supposed to help with the symptoms. I don't know much about it, but it sounds pretty interesting.

I don't think I suffer from SAD, but I do have a form of depression.
I suffer from hypersomnia, and a descreased appetite. It seems to affect differenet people differently, SAD and depression can either cause insomnia or hypersomnia and either lack of appetite ior comfort eating.
I personally like the lack of appetite, but if it is a problem, see your gp again.

I'm suspecting that my daughter might have this. This summer when she was going swimming every other day, she was happy with life. Now she suffers bad bouts of depression. I'm thinking of getting her some type of light therapy, even if it is just 3 trips a week to a tanning bed. Maybe if her mood was lifted some, she would also start exercising. All of this is supposed to help.

something that can help mimic the end results of sunlight hours might want to help with Seasonal Affective sickness. hence, sure, tanning beds will boost the production of melatonin on your pores and skin and may help with unhappy indicators, maximum folk who've tried this say that it did help...... yet they're easily no longer stated in any respect! in reality, they have been shown to reason pores and skin maximum cancers with out any doubt, that many countries attempt to restrict them. it truly isn't any longer how you are able to help with unhappy....a acceptable basic container is by some distance more effective - extra centred basic so that you're going to sense more effective speedier than a tanning mattress, and much lot safer. it truly is somewhat no longer somewhat truly worth the potential of pores and skin maximum cancers, tanning beds are undesirable information!! in case you may have the funds for it, get a basic container, it's going to artwork out more inexpensive than tanning beds contained in the destiny too... wish this helps :)

Yes, I do. I suffer from anxiety and depression and sometimes the lack of an appetite. It varies from day to day and week to week.

Oh yes, I have it . I have to go to the tanning bed at least 3 times a week or I would probably have slit my wrists by now or end up in a rubber room somewhere.
