I think small dogs in general might be sometimes tricky to potty train. They have small bladders, and people sometimes expect too much out of them.
On the other hand, I myself have a Yorkie/Maltese mix. She's an amazing little girl. I got her potty trained within a month, and unless it's MY fault, she's not had an accident since. My dog seems to have an iron clad bladder though...she really only goes like 2-3 times a day, and over summer when we're gone boating, she's gone like 16 hrs without an accident! We come home and she's not even in a rush to get outside. Amazing, honestly.
The other thing you need to consider is your climate. My dog HATES going outside when it's raining, snowing, or otherwise unpleasant. I wont' let her in 'til she goes though....so now she's learned to sniff less and go QUICK when it's crappy out.

I don't know if there is one breed easier to house break than another. Dino still goes in the house on a pad we keep in a bath room for him. I blame this on my Daughter because she didn't try to train him (14 yr olds don't make good dog trainers)
