Some are saying the rapture was something thought up in the 18th century. Those of you that think or believe that, please read 1Thessalonians Chapter 4. I know the word "rapture" is not in there but the term caught up is. What's your response? Paul wrote this way before the 18th century.

The doctrine of the rapture surly has a scriptural basis. If we look close enough we will find all kinds of terms that come and go as we change our language. If you look in the King James version-you will find that Noah's ark was 300 cubits long, but in a more modern translation it is said to be 450 feet long. The terms and words have clearly changes-however the value is the same. 300 cubits = 450 feet.

So, yes the rapture is in the Bible, in other words. If you look in a Latin translation you will see rapture. The English equivalent is "caught up".
You are correct.

The belief that faithful Christians will be bodily caught up from the earth, suddenly taken out of the world, to be united with the Lord “in the air.” The word “rapture” is understood by some persons, but not by all, to be the meaning of 1 Thessalonians 4:17. The word “rapture” does not occur in the inspired Scriptures

Now these are religious people who talk the talk of going to heaven in a dreamed-up rapture to keep them from suffering their own devices, the works of their own hands. Would it not be a wiser God to just take them somewhere else before they murder all of mankind, if indeed their dreamed-up God is rapturing them up, out of his love or concern?

Whatever the case, what mankind has done to defile the earth, confuse the mind, bring sickness, diseases and wars to earth and the heavens cannot be solved by wars nor rapture.

What could solve all world problems is worldwide repentance of breaking Yahweh's Laws. Yahweh is mighty enough to enlarge the earth or provide hundreds of other planets to pioneer had mankind been worthy. But they are not. They are now reaping what they have sown and the seeds are getting more defiled each day.

The diseases are getting stronger and mankind is getting weaker, mentally and physically. Because they have changed what Yahweh created for them and broken the covenant, the results of these sins will be felt for five months of the worst pains ever.

Yes and the Mormons have their own saying.

The Seventh Day Adventists have their own sayings

The Muslims have their own sayings

Should we ALL SAY THEM TOO!

By the way, what's wrong with CAUGHT UP then!

Why not QUOTE the Bible and say CAUGHT UP

Otherwise let's get even more moderna and use my term

Beam us up, God!

Remember, Revelations says men will follow false prophets and get the mark of the beast upon them for doing so.

Wouldn't it be horrible if this was one of them and ANYONE who used the term Rapture was not in the book of life!

You WILLING to take that CHANCE

You WILLING to RISK YOUR NAME to PRAISE GOD in a MODERN NEW AGE TERM that is NOT in the BIBLE!

If so, why not, just give up the Bible all together.

Why not EVEYRONE read the LIVING Bible instead of KJV or NIV or RSV

Why not read the Book or Mormon of Latter Day Saint.

I mean you're making Margaret MacDonald a saint!

You're telling GOD she's so saintly you follow her wisdom and words.

She's the New Jesus, I suppose!

And it was 19th Century. She coined it at the age of 15 in 1830 in Scotland. It was POPULARIZED by a New Age Modern Religious minister starting in 1860.

This was the Era when the Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, Pentacostals and Apostollics began to form their own view of religion in contrast to the more "orthodox" Lutherans, Presybterians and Methodsits who had been around since the 1700s or before.

We don't KNOW it will be what the word RAPTURE MEANS.

Rapture, that's a term LSD users sometimes use to describe their trips.

Rapture is what novalists use to describe sexual acts sometimes between unmarried people.

"Caught up"

That can mean anything. God is a fisherman he might throw a net out and we'll all get "caught up" in it. If you're in a net with a million other people being hoisted up to God in Heaven does that sound RAPTUROUS to have bodies packaged against you like fish face in the net of a fisherman!

We don't know what awaits us in Heaven.

Are you like the Muslims and think they'll be 72 vigins and lots of food and drink and nothing to do except float around and be merry!

What if God gives you a broom and says sweep eternity, will that make you RAPTURED!

The BIBLE has CLEARLY stated that GOD has workers, Angels.

How would YOU like to stand before the Tree of Life for ETERNITY with a flaming sword in your hand.

Does that give you RAPTURE!

What makes you think for ONE MOMENT GOD, will NOT give you a task to do!

And you DO IT FOR ETERNITY.

God and Jesus gave you a TASK TO DO ON EARTH, so why are you in RAPTURE NOW, what RAPTURE are your WAITNG FOR, something that isn't already HERE!

Was not the gift of God and Jesus RAPTURE enough!

What's wrong with Tribulation. We can see from an above post that is Biblical and it's a neat word.

What's wrong with TRIBULATION.

If it's in the Bible I can live with it. I can say it without fear.

Belief in the Rapture (described as a mythical transportation) is fairly new, maybe 150 years old. The Rapture, is just a matter of some mans interpretation of Pauls words.
Q - How would humans know, - If the "Mythical Transportation" happened, say 7.000.000 years ago?

The rapture as an eschatological prediction did not arise until the 1800s. It was posited by a pre-tribulationist theology, which was not really in existence until then.

While many pre-tribulationists find the basis of their theology in the bible, others find that those who build such a theology do so by proof-texting (taking passages out of context).

Those who read the bible as a compilation of writings by writers with diverse points of view point out that it seems likely that, although they all anticipated the return of Christ, the authors were inconsistent in their expectations regarding how this would occur and the events that would surround his arrival.

There are no verses that has the word rapture in the bible. I guess that many people are making it up or adding a word to revelation.

You are correct.

It's in the same category as the "Trinity." The word Trinity doesn't not appear in the Holy Bible, however Jesus tells His disciples in
Matthew 28:18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,[b] baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
