where can I find discs roughly 2 to 4 inches (5 to 10 centimeters) of boron carbide, possibly with a 1/4 to 1/2 inch hole in it. Preferably least 100 count for under 50 dollars

I am also interested in Kevlar on the cheap

What are you making...mail?

Usually when you design something, you try to piggy-back another common application to achieve volume - in order to manage your costs on a one-off.

Ceradyne makes larger armor plate from B4C (Cubic Boron Carbide is what this stuff is actually referred to). Do a search on it.

So - for your disks - your looking at trying to find a cutting tool insert that is as large as possible, for example. They make those small because they are hard to make large - you have problems with cracking. If you go to somebody like Ceradyne - they will be high unless you can commit to a volume purchase.

As for Kevlar - the Kevlar folks know what they have, too. The only way to get it "cheap" is to buy a lot of it at one time, unless you can find a vest or armor maker to let bid on their scraps and drop-off.
