YES! However, if your cat has eaten tinsel I would wait a bit and see if it doesn't pass by itself. But I would watch for signs of obstruction of the bowel.

If you own a cat, never use tinsel, it's impossible to keep the two apart and tinsel can do nothing but damage to cats. It can tear up the intestines, cause death or if he makes it out okay, you could end up w/ a very hefty vet bill, never try to pull the tinsel out if its hanging out of the mouth, that can do even more damage. Also stay away from poinsettas, poisonous to felines. Get rid of all the tinsel you can find and steer clear of it next year.

Hi Carol...definitely! It's not good to do this because it could become twisted within the intestinal tract when it bunches up and can even cut through the intestinal wall. Either could be fatal. If the amount was less than 1/2" she will eliminate it, but anything longer should be of concern.

Tinsel Kills Cats! Yes it does... so don't let your cats get anywhere near the tinsel. Most cats love it because its shiny and oh so tasty. But it gets stuck in the intestines and then makes the intestines accordion in on themselves. It requires surgery in most cases and can be often fatal. NOTE: if you see tinsel coming out your cats rear end, DON'T PULL IT [sic you'll pull the intestines out if you]. Bring her in the next day to the vet.

One of the most dangerous things he can get into - take the tinsel off the tree immediately. Tinsel and sewing thread have cost many cats their lives.
It can get tangled up in his stomach and it might take surgery to save his life. Not worth the risk.

Yes, cats are very attracted to dangling tinsel off the tree. I wouldn't put it up, it's better to not have the tinsel then to danger your cat.

Yes, it could get tangled up, or worse, your cat may need surgery.
Please remove the tinsel or anything Christmasy that attracts his curiosity.
Treat your home like you would if you had a baby just learning to walk.

YES! This can kill your cat by causing an obstruction. I don't think anyone with cats should use tinsel, but if you must, place it only up high where the cat can't reach it (but you may be surprised what your cat can reach!).

Yes in deed it could get tangled up in his stomach and it could also kill him if it does. Same goes for elastic bands and ribbon. Please keep all these things away from your cat. It should only eat the food that it was meant to eat.

Yes, it could. My cat at a gob of string one time, about the length of a strand of tinsel, and she almost died from it getting clogged in her intestine.
