Im getting braces tomorrow morning.
1) What should I expect?

2) On a scale of 1-10 how much do they hurt?

3) How long will it take to get used to them?

4) What should I prepare for?

5) Any other advice?

And the ortho is putting on only the top first then the bottom in a month or 2. I dont know why. I'll ask him tomorrow but Im curious lol. And if the ortho said I'll only need braces for about a year, give or take some, is this basically a good estimate? How can I make sure that I have them on as little time as possible?

1. You will feel some level of discomfort while their being put in. I remember it felt like someone wrestling with my mouth
2. Pain really depends on your orthodontist. I had minimal work done by a no so good orthodontist so i had a lot of pain. My brother had invasive work done by a good orthodontist so he had little pain.
3. I got used to them in a week.
4. Just prepare to say goodbye to soda, sticky foods, and hard foods and prepare to brush your teeth like 5 times a day.
5. Upside for me, because of braces. They hurt so much that I could barely eat for 3 days. i lost 20 pounds the 3 years I had them on.

Braces suck.

1) What should I expect? Uhm, they'll hurt at first but they'll be okay I guess.

2) On a scale of 1-10 how much do they hurt? 91/2 especially when you first get them on, and like your mouth can get stuck to them at nite.

3) How long will it take to get used to them?It took me like 4 months, maybe longer, until I couldn't even tell they were there.

4) What should I prepare for? PAIN. Buy lots of painkillers

5) Any other advice?I hope the pain isn't as bad as it was for me.

1) Don't expect much except a little discomfort at first
2) They hurt at a 5 in the beg. then you don't feel nothing.
3) It should take a week to get used to them
4) Don't have to prepare, just brush your teeth after every meal.
5) Usually when they tighten the braces they hurt a little. You can take an advil tablet if they hurt that bad.

Lol i know you must be excited but trust me after a week, you're gonna wish you never had them. I don't wanna scare you they just get really annoying and my sister's ortho told her she couldn't even eat sandiwches:S im sure your ortho is much nicer though. Good luck..and try not 2 break your braces..because if you do you might have to keep them in even longer than estimated!

Getting them put on doesn't hurt, though it will be uncomfortable the rest of the day.

You get use to it quickly, at first its like have a big lump of metal in your mouth.

It'll feel sore everytime they tighten them.

If you get your cheek caught on the back of them, don't panic just manuver your cheek off.

It depends on how bad your teeth are. I had mine for two years, most people have two years because some times you have to cancel appointments and then that delays it a month till the next appointment for tightening.

I loved my braces, I miss them and hate them at the same time.

they hurt like hell, the insides of your lips get raw from them, until they get calloused, eat a lot before you go because you won't be able to eat , or atleast it will hurt for a couple days. they are no picnic.
