well at my school we have a christmas dance on friday. theres this boy whos been talking to me more and more. he even ran up to me when i was leaving the school and asked me who i was going with to the dance and i had to admit, no one. and he was like i kno whos gonna ask you. and im like, who. and hes like, im not that kinda guy, he doesnt wantme to tell you. and so i started walking home b/c by that time i was outside the school. does this mean he likes me and is going to ask me to the dance? b/c i dont like him and so if u think hes gonna ask me, how do i let him down easy?

It sounds like he knows someone that likes you, and from what you indicate, its not him.
Go to the dance and dance with him if he asks. Just because you dance with someone, doesn't mean you like him. Have fun.

I'd think he probably was planning to ask you.
Let him down easy? Well, I'd try to discourage that kind of possibility before he does ask. Try to tell him you have plans on the night of the dance already. If you're going, even by yourself, just tell him you're going by yourself because you just don't feel like going with a date this time. If he asks why, just shrug and say you don't know -- it's just a feeling.
If he asks you before you can discourage it, tell him he's really awesome, but no thanks. Maybe next time, but this time you're gonna pass.

could be he might be the one who is going to ask you or maybe one of his friends want to. Boys often use their friends to find out if a girl likes them or is available. If you're not interested in going with this guy the best way to let him down easy is to tell him that you're not into him like that and you'd rather just be friends. Anything you say to turn him down though is going to hurt. People don't like rejection, it makes them feel embarassed and stupid for putting themselves out there and asking you. On the plus side maybe he is asking for someone else that is in into you, and they're not that bad. Who knows you'll just have to find out and see, but be prepared with what you're going to say to this guy just incase.

You might tell him you like someone else and expect him to ask you... and then ask HIM who he is going to ask... maybe offer urself to introduce him a nice friend

I don't think he will ask you. I think he really knows someone who is going to ask you. If he does ask you then you could say I rather go alone or make up some excuse.
