I always make Champagne cocktails on Christmas day. You can use any decent sparkling wine (cava, blanc de blank etc) if you don't want to splash for the real thing. Put a lump of brown sugar into the bottom of a champagne glass, sprinkle with 3 or 4 drops of angastura bitters and then add about a tablespoon of brandy. Fill the glass with really cold Champagne or sparkiling wine and enjoy.

Happy drinking!

Guiness is nice with Tia Maria in it -gives it a cream soda flavour with a kick.

Jack Daniels is lovely with coke - but try it with Cherry Coke - yum. Tummy warming as well.

If you loved punch - bring it back - just cut up some fruit and put in a large punch or fruit bowl, add a bottle of red wine, a bottle of white wine, mix together with the fruit and leave to let the fruit soak up some of the alcohol. Then add either Lemonade or fizzy fruit flavoured water - any you like.

Give it another good stir, put a ladle in the bowl, leave some glasses by the side and I bet you're not the only one drinking it.

Have a great holiday

Velma, take a good long sweet swig out of a bottle of rum. Always does the trick. Totally plastered after 3 swigs, then you can go back to the party and snog whomsoever you want.

Why not browse your local library for plenty of choice or make a potent punch! Does anyone make punch anymore or is it outdated? I used to love punch!
