Sleep question?

How long can you go for sleep before you die? Also is there any truth to the rumor that Going without sleep any sleep at all for 72 hours will render you insane? permanantly if so?

I think you would fall asleep before you die. Three days or more without any sleep at all can bring on auditory and visual hallucinations. This is one of the main reasons why people who are addicted to certain drugs or who have severe manic episodes experience hallucinations.
