The Survival level. I don't know how that sounds.
I am an intelligent person, had good jobs, been to college! Was also married, now divorced. It was even harder then.
But i still find life very hard on the survival level, and I don't know why!
I am frustrated.
I could add to this that getting stuck in the woods all night long in freezing weather with only one match left to light the fire was not a challenge to me!
Swamping a canoe in 37 deg. water in a river that was 22 inches above flood stage was not a challenge either.
Getting rescued from an exploding car was also not a challenge.
But surviving financially is! I don't understand that at all.

The most challenging experience in my life is when I first came to America. I was 19 years old and can not speak English at all. At the same time, I had 42 dollars in my pocket and I started to work at the restaurant the same week I arrived. At that time I was feeling uneasy and afraid to get caught. However, I was able to go to college, and graduated. I paid my own foreign student tuition's,food, housing, car expense, and insurance.

Getting downsized. Luckily I was more than halfway through my Master's, and we got by on my wife's salary until I finished that and found a new job based on my new qualifications - basically, we got by on her pay plus my unemployment comp for about a year. She was a trooper to stick by me through that. If I had been single, probably would have had to move back in with folks - not cool when you're 29. The worst part was psychological. This was almost 4 years ago and I'm still paranoid I'm gonna get fired pretty much every day.

Getting divorced, finding a new place to live on my own, getting settled, starting to date again, paying my bills on one salary. All that encompassed divorcing.

trying to get over depression. It's something that one can never truly get over, but just trying to maintain a positive attitude, even when things arent going very well.

surviving a Mexican jail. seems if there is a wreck and you are in it then you are at fault. so while we waited to see if our leader's wife was okay we all sat in jail--not at the hospital. she woke up fine and vouched for us that we were not trying to hurt her and we got out and promptly left the country!
