They also uncovered a identity theft ring. The company probably condoned this.

The identity theft issue is smoke and mirrors. They used that to counter the claim that they are being cruel at Christmas and to get more public support. Everybody knows that illegal immigrants use fake social security numbers to work. Now they want to call it an identity theft ring. It is an identity theft ring if you consider millions of people who have no connection with each other a ring. They never prosecuted illegal immigrants for that before, they just deported them. They probably won't bother prosecuting them now. It is about politics and money and nothing else. You will see a few more of these until the businesses start really losing money and start screaming at Congress to pass a bill to make them legal. Plays right into Bush's hands. They get credit for doing their jobs and Bush gets the law he wants. Mark my words

Six Swift processing facilities were raided Tuesday, in Greeley, Colo.; Grand Island, Neb.; Cactus, Texas; Hyrum, Utah; Marshalltown, Iowa; and Worthington, Mn

"We have been investigating a large identity theft scheme that has victimized many U.S. citizens and lawful residents," said ICE spokeswoman Barbara Gonzalez, at the plant in Greeley.

Gonzalez said federal agents worked closely with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to try to minimize the disruption at the plants while carrying out the search warrants.
Its sounds more like a real effort this time.Ive heard about it happening all over the country. Here in Arizona deportations have doubled and that's a very good sign that perhaps they are doing something,at last.Let us hope, and government workers are trained to do a very difficult job, dealing with the public and having to listen to every ones complaints real and imagined must be difficult. They aren't parasites, the illegal aliens are the parasites sucking on the teats of society. They must be weaned, and now.No amnesty under any guise.

Of 231 million Wage and Tax Statements (W2s) filed by employers during tax year 2004, 8 million did not match.
Californians owned 29 percent of those mismatches, the greatest number of any state.

At least they are doing something ,I for one am glad to see anything being done by our government.

It's a start. Now they need to continue doing this once a week to major corporations known for hiring illegals and get to the bottom of this identity theft problem.

How you jump to conclusions! Social Security issues MILLIONS of no-match letters, and they today picked up 'hundreds' as I understand it, though it may be a thousand when they tally up all of the plants.

I wouldn't call that efficient.

I would call it a step in the right direction, however. Identity theft is NOT a victimless crime.

Employers who hire illegal immigrants are a huge part of the problem. The company should be heavily fined.

Illegal aliens DO NOT only take jobs that Americans will not do, they also drive down wages for legitimate workers and hike the costs of social programs for us all.

How bad do I want to say........YES.....well not that bad and I YEP....I can't.

Anyway, I think this is a step in the right direction......a "wake-up" call to employers.

How often have I said "if you are targeting the EMPLOYEES.......then dammit target the EMPLOYER." About one hundred times.

Everyone is whining and grabbing shotguns over the workers, why haven't they done over the people they are working for?

I am not against a hard worker doing his thing in America. I am against THOSE who target those workers as the "awful illegal" when they wouldn't even be here.......were it not for a good job.

Not nearly enough however it is a very welcome bit of news. Now let's nail the employer to the wall and make an example of them!
