the garland.if you put the ornaments first then you would be going over them with the garland or even knocking them off the tree.

I always put the garland on first. Then you can place the ornaments around that!

It depends on you. I put on the ornaments first, so it would be easier to reach back into the tree, but some people put the garland on first and use that to hang a few ornaments on.

I put the ornaments on first, so I can place them in places I want them. Then the garland just drapes and hangs on the tips of the branches lastly.
